Louisville batted through the order and scored four times in the 1st, and then once more in each of the 2nd and 3rd innings, to take an early 6-2 lead off former Reds prospect Zach Stewart. Billy Hamilton led off the Bats 1st inning with a walk, a stolen base, and later scored on a single from Felix Perez. Billy Hamilton then led off the 2nd inning with his 5th homerun of the season. Minor League Player of the Day: Mike Hessman hit a homerun for the third straight day. On Wednesday, Hessman was 3-for-3 with the homerun, a walk and 3 RBI.

AAA
Louisville 10 – Columbus 7

Louisville scored at least once in each of the first 6 innings and never reliquinshed the lead. The scoring outburst included four solo homeruns off the bats of Josh Fellhuaer, Nevin Ashley, Konrad Schmidt, and Mike Hessman.

Seven of the Louisville runs, and all the homeruns, came at the expense of pitching prospect Trevor Bauer. Bauer was the prospect that went to Cleveland from Arizona in the 3-team trade that netted Cincinnati Shin-Soo Choo. It’s the third straight rough start for Bauer, who has seen his ERA mushroom from 2.55 to 5.05.

Hessman was a perfect 3-for-3 with the homerun, a walk and 3 RBI. That’s three straight games with a homerun and four in his past five games, pushing his May slash line up to .354/.452/.709. Fellhauer is also having a strong May (.333/.403/.544). In addition to his second homerun in two days, Fellhauer had a single, two walks, and two runs scored. Billy Hamilton singled and walked in five plate appearances, stole two bases, was caught once, and scored one run.

Armando Galarraga (3-3, 2.94 ERA) held the Clippers scoreless and limited to three hits until the 5th inning. A fielding error by Henry Rodriguez to the first batter of the 5th started a long inning for Galarraga. He finished the inning with a game line of 7 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), 4 walks and 3 strikeouts over 5 innings.

Yohan Pino (1-2, 5 SV, 2.13 ERA) bounced back from a rough outing on May 27th to pitch the final two shutout innings.
