Chad Reineke allowed just 1 run on a solo homerun over 8 innings. He gave up just 4 hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out 4. Logan Ondrusek tossed the final scoreless inning (1 hit, no walks or strikeouts.)
With the bases loaded in the 6th inning and the score tied at 1-1, Denis Phipps (2-for-4, 2B, SB, R, 3 RBI) unclogged the bases with a 3-RBI double. Felix Perez (2-for-4, R) scored one of those three runs and finished the game with a pair of hits.
Donald Lutz (2-for-3, HBP, SB) was back in action for the first time since being optioned back to AA. Yorman Rodriguez (1-for-4) has hit safely in all 9 games he’s played in Pensacola, and now has an 18 game hitting streak between Bakersfield and Pensacola. Marquez Smith‘s only hit was his first homerun in a Blue Wahoo uniform (11 games). It was his 9th homerun of the season.

Minor League Player of the Day: Billy Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a walk, hitting his 5th homerun of the season and stealing his 49th base. Hamilton scored twice and had two RBI, including the go-ahead RBI in the bottom of the 8th inning.
Louisville batted through the order and scored four times in the 1st, and then once more in each of the 2nd and 3rd innings, to take an early 6-2 lead off former Reds prospect Zach Stewart. Billy Hamilton led off the Bats 1st inning with a walk, a stolen base, and later scored on a single from Felix Perez. Billy Hamilton then led off the 2nd inning with his 5th homerun of the season. Those 5 homeruns in 308 at-bats this year ties his total homerun output from the previous two seasons’ 1062 at-bats.
The Knights climbed back to tie the game with 3 runs in the 5th inning of starter Greg Reynolds (7ip, 7h, 5r, 0bb, 6K) and their 6th and final run off the bullpen in the top of the 8th inning. Nevin Ashley (3-for-4, 2B, R, RBI) led off the bottom of the 8th inning with a double and later scored on a Billy Hamilton RBI single for the deciding run.
Jose Arredondo allowed a walk and struck out a batter in the final frame for the save.
Ryan Dennick allowed 4 runs on 8 hits and a walk while striking out one batter over 5.1 innings. Chris Manno and Loek Van Mil each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
No Pensacola player had more than one hit. Travis Mattair hit a solo homerun in the 4th inning. Ryan LaMarre had an RBI triple and later scored a run to contribute to the 2-run 7th inning.

Minor League Player of the Day: Amir Garrett kicked off the Rookie League season with a solid start for the Billing Mustangs. Garrett allowed just 1 unearned run on 3 hits and one walk in his 5-inning start while striking out 6 batters. This was Garrett’s third start in the Pioneer League, dating back to last season, and he is yet to allow an earned run at that level.
Armando Galarraga (5-5, 3.05 ERA) allowed both runs over 6 innings on 8 hits, 2 walks, and a hit batter while striking out 3. Logan Ondrusek pitched the final two shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 2.
Neftali Soto (2-for-4) collected two of the Bats five hits, extending his hitting streak to 6 games. Jason Donald had a double, a walk and scored a run in four plate appearances. Billy Hamilton led off the game with a single, stole second base, but then was picked off second to cut down the Louisville threat. He later drove in the lone Bats run on a groundout.
Ryan Dennick (3-8, 3.23 ERA) threw his third straight quality start. Dennick allowed 3 runs on 6 hits and one walk over 6 innings, while striking out 5.
The Blue Wahoos offense only had 3 hits and 3 walks. Theo Bowe’s solo homerun in the 3rd inning provided the only Pensacola run. Yorman Rodriguez reached base twice, going 1-for-3 with a walk.
