Minor League Player of the Day: Dragons starter, Stalin Gerson, threw 6 shutout innings, allowing only 2 hits and a walk, while striking out 3.

Louisville 5 – Buffalo 3

Felix Perez was 4-5 with 2 doubles, Cody Puckett was 2-4 with a double and a walk, Bill Rhinehart was 2-4 with a double.

It was a bullpen night for the Bats, Tim Gustafson started, but only went 4 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 walks and 2 runs. Carlos Fisher threw a scoreless inning, J.J. Hoover got the win with a hitless 8th, and Donnie Joseph picked up his 3rd save (and kept his ERA at 0) with a scoreless 9th.

AA

Jackson 4 – Pensacola 2

Brian Peacock was the only Wahoo with 2 hits, as they only garnered 6 on the night.

Tim Crabbe got the loss, going 5 innings, allowing 8 hits and 4 walks, striking out 5, while allowing 4 runs (3 earned). Brian Pearl threw 2 scoreless innings, as did Mark Serrano.

I’ve been a Reds fan since the late ’60’s, with my luck of being able to attend plenty of games at Riverfront during the BRM era. I was sitting in the Green Seats in the OF when Pete came home in ’84 and was in the Red seats when Glenn Braggs reached over the fence in ’90 to beat the Pirates. I have had many favorites from Jim Maloney to Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin, Adam Dunn, and Jay Bruce.

Kris Negron went 3 for 5 with a HR. Miguel Rojas went 2 for 5 with a HR. Mike Costanzo walked twice. Felix Perez doubled.

Pedro Villarreal, 3.86 ERA, got no decision as he went 7 IP and allowed 3 R on 6 H and 1 BB with 7 K. Nick Christiani added 3 IP of scoreless relief. Donnie Joseph picked up the win with 2 IP of scoreless relief. Kanekoa Texeira picked up his 1st save with 1 IP of scoreless relief.

Pensacola 4 – Chattanooga 2

Yordanys Perez went 3 for 4 with a 2B. Didi Gregorius went 2 for 3 with 2 BB. Brodie Greene went 2 for 4 with a BB. Ryan LaMarre went 2 for 5. Josh Fellhauer walked twice. David Vidal doubled.

Tony Cingrani, 2.95 ERA, got no decision as he went 3.2 IP and allowed 2 R on 5 H and 3 BB with 3 K. Mark Serrano and Brian Pearl each added 1.1 IP of scoreless relief. Clayton Tanner picked up the win with 1 IP of scoreless relief. Justin Freeman picked up his 3rd save with 1 IP of scoreless relief.
