Minor League Player of the Day: Bats LF Willie Harris was 3-4 with a double and homer in the Bats loss to the Mud Hens.

Louisville 4 – Toledo 2

Willie Harris was 3-4 with a double and homer and Corky Miller was 2-2 with a walk.

Tim Gustafson threw 6.1 one run innings, picking up his 4th win. He gave up 5 hits, walked 1 and struck out 4. The bullpen was effective (in varying degrees, 0 earned runs) the rest of the way with Jordan Smith picking up his 12th save with .2 innings of hitless relief work.

AA

Huntsville 5 – Pensacola 3

Billy Hamilton was 0-2, but walked 3 times. He stole 2 bases (thrown out once). He now has 23 stolen bases in AA, giving him 127 for the year (thrown out 27 times). That was the offensive highlight for the Blue Wahoos.

Daniel Corcino started and threw 6 innings, gave up 5 runs on 7 hits, walked 3 and struck out 2. Brian Pearl threw a scoreless inning of relief (2 hits), Mark Serrano threw a hitless inning.

Mike Costanzo went 2 for 4 with a HR. Denis Phipps hit his 9th home run. Didi Gregorius and Brian Peacock each doubled.

Sean Gallagher, 4.84 ERA, got no decision as he went 6 IP and allowed 3 R on 8 H and 2 BB with 3 K. Nick Christiani got the win as he added 2 IP of scoreless relief. J. J. Hoover picked up his 9th save with a scoreless 9th inning.

Huntsville 6 – Pensacola 5 (11 Innings)

The Blue Wahoos took the lead in a 1-1 game by putting up four runs in the top of the 11th. They then proceeded to give up five runs to Huntsville for the walk off win in the bottom of the 11th.

Brodie Greene went 3 for 4 with a BB and a SB. Josh Fellhauer went 2 for 5 with 2 2B and a BB. Redleg Nation Spotlight Player Tucker Barnhart went 2 for 4 with a BB. Billy Hamilton went 1 for 5 with a BB and a CS (26). Andrew Means homered. Beau Mills doubled.

Tony Cingrani, 1.98 ERA, got no decision as he went 5 IP and allowed 0 R on 4 H and 4 BB with 4 K. Wilkin De La Rosa (1.1 IP) and Brian Pearl (1 IP) each added scoreless relief outings. Mark Serrano took the loss allowing 5 R while retiring only one batter in the final inning.

Minor League Players of the Day: Two strong pitching performances to highlight last night. Daniel Corcino threw 5 shutout innings for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, allowing just 3 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 4. Robert Stephenson allowed just a solo homerun in 5 innings in his second start for the Dayton Dragons. He allowed 3 hits, no walks, and struck out 5.

The conclusion of Tuesday’s suspended game was ended in a loss for Pensacola. Kyle Lotzkar threw the first 3.2 innings prior to the game’s suspension, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Brian Pearl got the loss for his 2 runs allowed on Wednesday in 2.1 innings.

Ryan LaMarre and Josh Fellhauer both had two hits for the Blue Wahoos.

Tennessee 1 – Pensacola 0 (Game 2)

Daniel Corcino (5ip, 3h, 0r, 1bb, 4k) got no run support in this 7-inning game.

Minor League Player of the Day: Billings starter, RHP Andrew Cisco threw 5 innings of shutout baseball, allowing only 5 hits and striking out 4. Cisco was 6th round pick in 2010 and is seeing his first professional action this season.

AAA

Louisville 4 – Buffalo 1

Felix Perez was 3-4 with a double, Didi Gregorius was 2-3 and hit his 3rd homer since coming to Louisville. (I have to believe this is an abberation.)

The Bats got a strong start from Chad Reneke, who threw 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 5. Someone named Will Ohmann (where are these guys coming from?) threw a scoreless inning. Nick Christiani got the win, throwing a couple of scoreless innings and Donnie Joseph picked up his 5th save, with a scoreless 9th, striking out the side.

AA

Huntsville 6 – Pensacola 1

Ryan LaMarre went 2-4 with a homer, Donald Lutz went 2-4.

Tony Cingrani got racked up, going 5.1, giving up 6 runs on 6 hits, walking 2 and striking out 7. He gave up two long balls. This outing raised his ERA all the way to 2.15.

Nice relief work by the pen though, Brian Pearl threw 1.2 one hit innings, and Mark Serrano and Chris Manno threw hitless innings.

I was sitting in the Green Seats in the OF when Pete came home in ’84 and was in the Red seats when Glenn Braggs reached over the fence in ’90 to beat the Pirates. I have had many favorites from Jim Maloney to Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin, Adam Dunn, and Jay Bruce.

Minor League Player of the Day: 8th round draft pick, Billings 3B, Seth Mejian-Brean had a pretty good doubleheader, going 4-7 with a double and homer, scoring 3 runs and driving 3 in. Thus far in the Billings season, he’s hitting at a .333/.436/636 clip in 10 games.

Columbus 5 – Louisville 4 10 innings

Xavier Paul (LH hitting OF) continued his hot streak since coming to the Bats. His OPS at Syracuse was .888, and he’s moved that up to 1.180 at Louisville. He was 4-5 last night. Corky Miller was 2-3 with a homer, Nefi Soto was 1-4 with a homer.

Tim Gustafson had a good start for the Bats, going 5.1 shutout innings, allowing 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3. But the bullpen faltered…Nick Christiani .2 IP 3 H 3 R 3 ER 1 BB 1 HR (and to show how stupid the hold stat was, he was credited with his 7th hold), Travis Webb and Jordan Smith both threw scoreless innings, but Donnie Joseph got a blown save with an inning where he gave up 2 hits and a walk, while giving up a run. Kanekoa Texeira took the loss, going .2, giving up the winning run on 2 hits and a walk.

Jacksonville 5 – Pensacola 4 10 innings

Ryan LaMarre was 2-3 with a double, Miguel Rojas was 2-5, and Donald Lutz, in his first game as a Blue Wahoo, went 1-5 with a homer.

Wirfin Obispo started and went 4 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits. Brian Pearl threw a scoreless inning, Curtis Partch threw 1.2 scoreless innings, and Justin Freeman threw a scoreless frame.

The loss went to Mark Serrano, who gave up an unearned run in the 10th.

Denis Phipps was 2-4. Didi Gregorious hit his first AAA homer, as the Bats only collected 4 hits on the night.

Ryan Feierabend (who?) started and raised his ERA to 6.75 with 4.1 innings of 9 hit, 7 run (5 earned) work. And the Reds released Scott Carroll?

Carlos Fisher threw 2 scoreless, one hit innings of relief.

Jacksonville 2 – Pensacola 1

Beau Mills was 2-4 with a homer to account for the only Wahoo run.

J.C. Sulburan started and threw 4.1 innings of 1 run baseball, giving up 3 hits, but walking 4 while striking out 4. He took the loss, taking his record to 6-7.

Brian Pearl threw 1.2 hitless innings, Justin Freeman threw .2 (but walked 3), and Chris Manno got the final out.
