Minor League Player of the Day: Marquez Smith (Pensacola): 2-4, HR, 2B, 1 RUN, 3 RBI
Henry Rodriguez provided most of the offense by going 2-4 with a homerun, 3 RBI, and a run scored. The homerun was a solo shot in the 1st inning for his 4th of the season.
Yohan Pino allowed 7 runs on 11 hits in 5 innings pitched. Pino did not walk a batter and struck out 6 in the loss. Yohan fell to 2-5 on the season. with a 3.81 earned run average.
The Blue Wahoos took a 7-1 lead after 4 innings and then held on in the end for a 1-run victory. Marquez Smith led the way with a 2-4 game including a homerun, double, 3 RBI, and 1 run scored. The homerun was his 2nd of the season. Devin Lohman was 2-3 with a homerun, single, and a walk. Lohman scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Travis Mattair only had 1 hit in 4 at-bats but it accounted for his 11th homerun of the year. Donald Lutz scored a run and drove in a run by going 2-4 with 2 singles in the contest.
Josh Smith improved his record to 6-6 on the season with the win. Smith allowed a run on 5 hits and a walk over 6 innings of work. He struck out 5 and lowered his ERA to 3.50 on the season.

Minor League Players of the Day: Three Bakersfield Blaze pitchers combined for a 5-hit shutout. Jamie Walczak pitched 6 shutout innings, giving up the five hits. He walked two and struck out five. Brooks Pinckard didn’t allow a hit over 2 innings, nor did Carlos Contreras in the 9th inning.
The Bats collected just 7 hits and two different players were caught stealing. Didi Gregorius (2-for-4 with a double) was the only Louisville player with more than one hit but was caught stealing once.
Chad Reineke (7.2ip, 2r, 9h, 2bb, 3k) was one batter shy of a complete game. Bill Bray pitched to the final batter and struck him out.
Brodie Greene was 2-for-4 with two doubles. Donald Lutz was 2-for-4 with one double.
Wirfin Obispo (6ip, 3r, 3h, 5bb, 5k) allowed 3 runs in a start for the first time since July 17th. In his previous seven starts, Obispo had allowed just 7 runs over 39 innings, a 1.62 ERA.

Minor League Player of the Day:Billings 1B Carlos Sanchez went 4-5 with 4 doubles. In the second half at Billings (16 games), his slash line is .403/.439/.742. On the season, his OPS is .937 with a .588 slugging.
The Bats only collected 3 hits, luckily one averted the shutout, as Denis Phipps’ one hit was a homer. He has 4 homers in his last 3 games.
Chad Reineke got knocked around, starting and going 4, giving up 8 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks. The only Bats pitcher that threw well was Carlos Fisher, with 2 hitless innings. Jordan Smith thew a scoreless inning also, but gave up 2 hits.
Montgomery @ Pensacola was washed out, so the Billy Hamilton watch goes on another day.
