Jason Linden joined me for a retrospective on the brilliant career of Reds broadcaster Marty Brennaman. The bulk of the podcast, however, was a look forward to the off-season, and the moves Cincinnati needs to make in order to be a playoff contender in 2020. Plus, we discuss smuggling grapes.

    1. The Reds are NOT going to sign Rendon. He is going to be 30+ mil per year.
    2. The Reds need SS and Catcher really bad.
    3. I think LF, and CF will be ok. Aquino is a ? in right. I do like what I see.

This podcast is very funny, although I don’t think it was intended to be. Didn’t agree with one word of it. If Cincinnati was the last place on earth, the Reds might be able to sign Rendón. It’s not going to come down to money, it’s going to come down to the opportunity to win the world championship ring.

The many years of losing has clouded even the very sharp observers judgment. If it was practical, it would be a good idea to walk away from the game for a year or two to gain perspective.

I’m fine with the smooth fielding Jose Iglesias at shortstop and batting in the eighth slot. If possible, extend him for a couple years. Bring up Tyler with Tucker as the backup. Spend big bucks to get Castellanos in centerfield. Move Senzel to second to keep him from crashing into walls. Aquino is a developing hitter and he has the defensive skills for right field.
