  1. Dilson Herrera is in an intriguing situation. Do the Reds call him up at some point? He is out of options, so they will have a tougher time sending him down than in ST when he was hurt and made it through waivers. He is also somewhat blocked if you see Peraza and Senzel as the primary 2B/SS combo.

Perhaps you keep him in AAA, show he’s healthy, and deal him later, either by himself or as a sweetner with another trade (ie Harvey).

    • Agree that D.Herrera poses a unique situation and opportunity. As suggested below maybe somebody moves to a corner OF spot in the next couple of years. But 2B is perhaps their best quality depth position. In addition to Scooter. Senzel, Blandino, and D.Herrera, Shed Long at AA who is around #5 in their prospect list is primarily if not exclusively a 2B.

  2. our Daytona team is looking really good. I feel the reds are just a couple of seasons away but look out when these guys arrive we are really going to be great!

  3. Keury Mella and Tony Santillan could be the next “big thing” coming out of the farm system.
Mella (AA) might make his ML debut in 2019, unless they do a Castillo (and a lot of bodies would have to be broken) and call him up this year.

Dilson Herrera: Bring him up and let him play at 2nd base to showcase him, prior to the July interleague deadline. Send down Blandino for a while.

Senzel can play 2nd, 3rd and probably a decent left field.
    Gennett can do the same.
Trade Duvall for ….something. I know we won’t get much. Brandon Dixon can do for the Reds pretty much what Duvall does.

Winker, Gennett and Senzel can play left field
Dilson, Senzel and Gennett can play 2nd.
Eugenio and Senzel can play 3rd.
I would also bet that Eugenio could play first on Joey Votto off days.

An imaginative manager can juggle the line up a little and everybody gets to play, until Gennett and/or Herrera get traded.

I personally like Scooter, because he is left handed, he does have some power, and he is a very likeable and popular guy in the clubhouse, much like Suarez. I would honestly like to keep him and find somewhere to play him semi-regularly.

    • Mella has already made his MLB debut. He got a cup of coffee last season out of the bullpen.

    • Issue with Scooter is $$$$. 5M+ this year. If he keeps on raking probably closer t 10M next then he is out of team control.
