  1. Senzel (22-YO) & LaValley (22-YO) have become quite the dynamic duo with their move from A+ to AA together this season. Last night in a 12-inning marathon, Senzel went 3-6 and LaValley went 2-4 w/ 1-2B and 2-BB. After the game, Senzel is slashing .318/.375/.468 and LaValley is slashing .284/.355/.507 since their promotion to AA. I can see them both being promoted to AAA next season. At that point, something needs to shake out.

Senzel has played exclusively as a 3B since being drafted. LaValley began as a 3B, but switched to 1B at A+ last season, probably to accomodate future playing time for Senzel at 3B going forward. There’s some dude named Voptto occupying 1B and wearing the wishbone C, so LaValley may need to investigate a defensive move a corner OF position (of course those positions at the major league level are also pretty well set and have additional competition going forward) or a significant trade sometime in the next couple years may move LaValley.

    • Of course the third member of the triumphant trio, Shed Long, has fallen on hard times since he accompanied Senzel and LaValley to AA, but he’s not the only player to initially struggle at AA. I hope Long gets back on track in the 2nd half and forces some tough decisions regarding the IF regarding Blandino, Long, Dixon & Herrera.

  2. As always, thanks for the update and info Tom. I rely on you and Doug for most of my Reds’ minor-league news. This summary is something I always look forward to.
