Adam Dunn Alert: The last time the Reds beat the Indians when down to their final out

Last night’s win was fun, what with all the Billy Hamilton shenanigans and the Reds winning after it looked like the game was over.

Well, let’s think back to the last time the Reds beat the Indians when down to their final out. One of my favorite all-time games, and one that we wrote about extensively in our upcoming book. This never gets old:

  1. The 9th inning in the Wednesday’s game ought be another chapter, maybe in the sequel.

  2. Dunn, Griffey, Kearns, Freel, La Rue, the better Bronson… We gotta bring back those unis too!

  3. Love me some Adam Dunn grand slam walk off laser. Thanks for that throwback Chad.

  4. He hit off of Bob Wickman and I believe it was 9-8.I had moved away and was back home in Ohio visiting and was listening to Marty’s call.

  5. What year was that? About 1999? I know he couldn’t hit for a high average, run fast nor play defense well, but I guess I choose to remember the 100 walks and 30-40 homers a year. Where are you now Adam? Great memories Chad. Thanks.

    • 2006. We had just gotten back from our honeymoon — I had purchased the 10 game bleacher pack and we went to 4 of the next 5 games right after we got back.

    • Where is Adam now? He’s producing Oscar-winning movies like “Dallas Buyers Club” (in which he has a cameo as a bartender). As for the game — I was there and that was the apex of my Reds fandom, at least as far as games I’ve seen in person. And I saw Tom Browning’s perfecto.
