You know Michael Lorenzen is a pitcher, right? Well, Lorenzen keeps providing memorable moments at the plate thus far in his short big league career.

Let’s just take a moment to marvel at today’s pinch-hit home run that gave the Reds the lead in the afternoon victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, a win that pushed the Reds into first place in the National League Central division.

I got a big old grin on my face when he made contact.

40 degrees and raining is the worst weather on the planet.

Feels warmer at 30 degrees and snow.

And he hits a 420 foot front door shot that carried like the 4th of July

He should get 4 abs every 4 days, and still pinch hit on off days

Lorenzen and Davis can PH in games that they will not pitch. That offsets the short bench. Will we see Lorenzen in the outfield sometime this season? Only time will tell.

Chapman was far and away my favorite pitcher when he was a Red. I now have a replacement. Thank you Michael.

I was watching the game, and when he came to bat, as I do with most pitchers batting, used the opportunity to look at my phone. Next thing i know, he has knocked it out. Dude is fun to watch.

Lorenzen smoked that pitch, even though it was a cookie out over the middle of the plate. It landed about 25 feet past the CF wall.
After doing a little more research on the platelet rich plasma therapy that Lorenzen received on his partial UCL tear, I feel confident that Lorenzen will be back in the rotation next year. Even though the tissue area has healed it is still susceptible to another tear. And it will just take some more time for it to strengthen to the point of being able to withstand a starter’s regiment.

My 2018 rotation would be Lorenzen, Disco, Finnegan, and then the best 2 of Castillo, Garrett, Reed, and Romano. That could be pretty strong!!

Feldman isn’t much and Arroyo will be a disaster imo but I guess they feel like they need 2-3 stopgaps for this year? Senzel will prob be up for good in May next year and then maybe they can go .500 and have some momentum for 2019!

In 47 career PAs, his slash line is .262/.279/.452/.731. He makes MadBum look like a backup catcher. 😉

(Micah Owings was .283/.310/.502/.813 in 219 PAs.)

Lorenzen is currently 2nd on the team in batter WAR at 0.2. (Duvall at 0.3) Gotta love early season!
