Question for the Nation: Would you rather have the Reds beat the Cardinals 3 out of 4 games and knock them out of the post-season even if that means the Reds draft selection falls from #2 or #3 to #6 … OR … would you rather see them get the best draft pick possible, even if that means the Cardinals make the Wild Card game?

Stipulate that the Reds should play to win.

What I’m asking is what we fans are hoping for this last week.

Draft pick, which will give me years of happiness. I will forget this series by next week.

Not me win 3 out 4 I will be saying remember when we knocked the Cards out of the playioffs Back in 2016. I still remember the 82 reds sweeping the Dodgers in LA the final week, seriously damaging their chances

I vote draft pick. I always want what will make the Reds the best going forward.

Beat the Dirty Birds!!! We’ll draft high anyway, so let’s send St. Louis to the same offseason plans we have.

It’s pretty funny that reds fans think the Cards are our huge rival, they don’t.

Draft pick position is the preference. I will never be sad about beating the Cardinals, but in the long game I think there’s a different tier between top 2-3 and #6.

Securing a better pick would be great…however, what are the ancillary effects of the Cardinals being knocked out?

Does DeWitt determine that his model needs tinkering? Does he determine that the Cards need to get a lot better in order to beat the Cubs long term? Is he willing to tank for 2 years in order to rebuild his farm system and build up a huge cash stock pile to compete with the Cubs in the future? If so, does that help the Reds?

Always beat the Cards when you can!! The draft will work itself out! Another question I have for the Reds FO….why did they keep calling up Waldrop earlier when Irabarren and Selsky are far superior hitters? Holt has never been anything special either? What could Irabarren have done with all those atbats?

Lets go Duvall….get those 100 RBIs for your family, agent, and old school fans like me!!!

I kind of hope MLB looks at replays on lost contact of the base while sliding into a base. IMO, it is not really the intent of replay. This is not the same as oversliding a bag. Any thoughts?

Knocking the Cards off would be nice as they would enjoy doing it to the Reds. The draft pick will take care of itself. Bientendi was a #7 pick in the 1st round. Any pick among the first 5 or 6 should have the potential to be a major league player. I am more worried about the Reds getting the high draft pick right. They have blown a few in recent years. I liked the Reds first 3 picks last year. I hope they will do the same or better in 2017..

This is fun!! Its like they traded Ohlendorf to the Cards!! Selsky should’ve been with the Reds all along….atleast when they had Peraza on the roster to backup Hamilton. Holt is very limited…prob hasn’t hit 3 balls 300 feet this entire year!

    • Vicferrari

I believe Selsky got hurt after a decent AAA season last year or he would have been playing OF in Sept. Seem like he only got a few ABs in Spring, I figured he was done, but similar thing seemed to happen this year except he got healthy in Sept

  8. Indy RedMan

Everyone is prob watching Bevis and Butthead but me!! Well Joey can’t be President so lets go with Adleman for President and Selsky for VP!!

  9. VaRedsFan

BP with his 3rd knock of the night driving in 2 more to go along with 2 SB’s. 8-zip Reds.

    • Indy RedMan

He’s not among the least productive 2B any longer! BP has had a great 2nd half!! Everyone is hitting tonite! Selsky needs to be on this team next year as well!!

  10. Tct

Votto now has as many extra base hits, 30, as strikeouts in the second half. Compare that to 65 k to 34 xbh last year in the 2nd half. And 88 k’s to 29 xbh in the first half this year.

  11. Indy RedMan

Glad to see my boy Adam D. decide to go ahead and knockout the 100 rbi thing tonite!! This is crazy! Now they’ll score about 5 runs in the next 3 games and lose them all….that’s baseball!

What a game. Always great to beat Looy in a big way. Although the Reds will probably be shutout tomorrow.
