The Reds (57-82) took a loss yesterday at the hands of Ivan Nova and the Pirates (69-69), cementing their third straight losing season. That’s a sobering sentence to write, but at least the future is looking up? Kind of?

Starting Pitchers

Tim Adleman stars for the Reds in the battle of two rookie pitchers. Adleman has yet to last more than 6.0 innings in any of his starts this year, and has had a problem with yielding homers of late. In his past three starts, Adleman has allowed seven home runs and taken two losses as a result.

Stephen Brault is making his third start since being recalled to the Pirates at the end of August and has pitched well since his return, but not abundantly so. Brault has struggled with walks in his four Major League outings, walking 10 in 19.0 innings, but has managed not to give up too many runs in the process.

Backstreet Bronson is Back
In case you missed it earlier, Bronson Arroyo has been shut down for the 2016 season but plans to make a comeback in 2017. This is honestly the best news I’ve heard all week and I work for a newspaper so I hear a lot of news, which probably isn’t the best analogy I could’ve made since newspaper news is usually very boring, but sometimes it isn’t yet this week wasn’t one of those weeks where it wasn’t boring, so indeed: Bronson Arroyo coming back to the Majors is the best news I’ve read all week.

Maybe the Reds will sign him and then trade him for Dansby Swanson. I’d be down with that.

Birthday Boy Billy
There’s a lot of “B” alliteration in this game thread, but I’m okay with it. Happy Birthday Billy!

Concluding Thoughts
Imagine a Reds team where we traded Bronson Arroyo for Dansby Swanson. I’m still hung up on that. I mean, just look at this hair:

Those are the kinds of locks we need on this team.

Go Reds!

  1. I feel conflicted with tonight’s game. I had Brault in class when he was in college and have followed his career since he was drafted. I’ll always root for the Reds, so here’s to hoping Brault throws a solid 6 inning shut out, then the Pirates’ bullpen implodes, and the Reds walk away with a win. Cool?

  2. I think we can score off this minor leaguer tonight although we usually don’t fair well against them.

  3. Two strike double for Harrison ties the game.Just can’t let a guy get a hit on 0-2 pitch

  4. How about Adleman with the bat… might not be pretty but he’s getting it done.

  5. WOW our pitcher is picking up our offense,He has score one and knocked in one

  6. Terrible base running by Peraza

  7. Iggy getting hit a little… 3 singles and a sac fly. tie game 3-1

  8. Nice comeback and got the 6-4-3 to end it

  9. great execution in the 8th Suarez single, sac, single, and a sac fly by Peraza to grab the lead 4-3

  10. Someone tell Thom that Peraza just hit a sac fly

  11. Iggy to try to finish it. HBP to start it…not good.

  12. Iggy tied a major league record held by many…2 hit batters on consecutive pitches.

  13. Its been that kind of year for us.Just when you think you have seen it all we find another way to give a game away.

  14. Impressive by Iggy.

  15. WOW…got 2 pop ups with the bases loaded to seal it….nice win!
