The Reds are on a bit of a roll and have Anthony DeSclafani back in the rotation now.  The bullpen is about to get a boost as Michael Lorenzen and Raisel Iglesias are due to return from their rehab assignments next week.  We also just had Jose Peraza called up to replace an injured Jordan Pacheco.  Peraza joins Kyle Waldrop and Steve Selsky who are already on the Reds roster.

The Reds two Rookie level teams both begin play within the next week.  The Billings Mustangs, whose roster will be featuring the Reds top three picks from this year’s draft (3B Nick Senzel, OF Taylor Trammel, and C Chris Okey), begin play tomorrow 06/17/16.  The AZL Reds begin play on Monday 06/20/16.  Now it’s time to see what is going on down on the farm.

Its been a real strong run for Daytona to get over the 500 mark.

Wow, Pensacola’s Tony Renda just keeps on rolling. I noticed you have him listed as IF/OF now. Is Renda getting much time playing in the OF? I had hoped when Peraza was promoted that Renda would get the call to Louisville. If he keeps this up, he’ll be the Reds minor league player of the year. Not bad for the 4th player and forgotten man in the Chapman trade.

Renda actually has more time in LF than 2B & 3B combined this season. Prior to this season, Renda was strictly a 2B/SS. Even if he doesn’t continue with his suerior peformance at the plate, he could work himself into a super-utility role at the major league level and have a nice little career.

I keep thinking he’s Zobrist-lite. Can play all over the field, has a fairly balanced hit tool. He was a 2nd round draft choice, so it’s not completely out there that he’d put it together.

Iggy put up another strong appearance with the Wahoos Wednesday, 2 perfect innings.

Pitching, pitching, pitching everywhere yet na’er a hit to dink!

I hope the Reds leave Schebler at AAA despite his solid performance at the plate. Let him play regular with Selsky and Waldrop filling utility OF roles at the major league level. Schebler has a chance to not only be a regular contributor at the major league level, but a major contributor. The ceiling for Selsky and Waldrop at the major league level is the role they are filling now.

Garrett & Davis look ready for a bump up to AAA during the coming month. With Finnegan, Lamb and Straily providing at least acceptable performance in the starting rotation and Bailey joining them in a month or so, I’m not sure that the Reds will promote Reed and/or Stephenson until later in the season. That could set up the Bats with an absolutely dominant starting rotation and a look at the Reds likely starting rotation going forward. Both Reed and Stephenson look like they would benefit from additional development time with Ted Power before making the permanent jump to the show.

Blue Wahoos half season ends Sunday. Their league All Star Game is Tuesday. They are tied for 1st in their division (winner qualifies for post season); and, Garrett has been named to the AS team. I’m guessing we see Garrett at Louisville pretty quickly after the AA All star game.

Tom, thanks for including the league averages. That is so helpful as a reference. You do a great job with these.
