The game tonight was suspended because of rain. It will resume tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. According to FanGraphs, the Cardinals have a 57% chance of winning.

Tickets for tonight’s game will not get you in GABP for the finish tomorrow, but can be exchanged for any future game. The two teams are scheduled for a 1 p.m. game that is sold out.

Reds 2 Cardinals 2  |  FanGraphs  |  Votto’s side of the story

Michael Lorenzen threw 85 pitches over 5 innings. He gave up ten hits, the first four of which were ground balls. The numbers to look at are the five strikeouts and only one walk.

The Reds scored first on a Hamilrun. Billy Hamilton got to first on a bunt hit. Then he stole second and advanced to third when Yadier Molina’s throw went into the outfield. Hamilton scored on a check-swing ground ball by Brandon Phillips.

The home team’s second run came on Ramon Cabrera‘s first major league home run, a line drive into the Cardinals bullpen.

Brandon Finnegan, the presumptive headliner of the three players the Reds got in return for Johnny Cueto, made his first appearance for the Reds. He came out of the bullpen to pitch the sixth and seventh innings, retiring all six St. Louis batters he faced. He struck out two.

Billy Hamilton had three hits. Joey Votto had three walks (and no one else on the Reds drew a walk). Brandon Phillips had two hits.

I know the 1:00 game is scheduled for regular FOX network. Any notion whether the suspended game will be shown to completion on Fox Sports Ohio?

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a player defend himself in the way Votto does in his video. Boxed in metaphorically, eh, Joey? Keep doin’ what you’re doin’!

So was the Finnegan we saw tonight in his default reliever mode or trying out his presumptive starter mode?

I guess the integrity of the game required Price to take him down for a PH with the score tied in the bottom of the 7th. But Finnegan could have struck out just as well as Skippy did.

I would be OK with keeping WJ around to do trades. Have someone else make all the other decisions.

WJ still has to complete Bruce, Philips, Chapman and maybe Frazier trades, after that he’ll step aside.

Walt is not thinking clearly. He still wants to tweak a little and thinks the team will be competitive in 2016.A 70-75 win team is not being competitive. Our division is the best in baseball. As long as he stays around using the eye test and the gut to run this team we fall further and further behind.
