The All-Star break is finally over (did it seem to last longer this year than normal, sheesh) and the Reds resume play today in inter-league fashion by traveling to the Big Apple to take on the Yankees. I’m honestly not sure who plays for the Yankees, but I am pretty sure they have some player who has had a good career set to retire at the end of this season that has been all the buzz this week.

The Reds start the 2nd half of the season off with Mike Leake on the mound. I don’t understand the move to start Leake out of the gate when Cueto is fully rested, but that’s just me. Hopefully Leake will go out there and shut down the pinstripes and get the Reds off to a good second half start.

Discuss the game here, Reds fans! Go Reds!

  1. The Yankee announcers like to talk about GABP being a bandbox.

Looks like Pena has figured out that the Yankee stadium RF wall is a joke.

  2. That should have been strike 3.

  3. NY is smart by getting this guy out now! 7 so’s now that is terrible!!!

  4. BHam needs to do something other then K.

  5. If reds hitters stand up there taking many more pitches down the pipe , gonna gave to clean pigeon crap off themselves -geeze

  6. C’mon Billy get off the snide.

  7. The last week before the break taught me … Reds aren’t out of it yet.

  8. Now all we need is a little bingo. Reds take these games this week-end against the Yankees – shadow of their former selves.

  9. No help from Billy tonight

  10. That was the greatest catch in the history of baseball. (by Jeter)

  11. Another wasted chance

  12. Hold them here. A run ain’t nothing but a thing.

  13. Cozart is about 2 feet too short to hit those pitches.

  14. At least the Reds battery learned not to pitch Ellsbury inside …

  15. This game is far from over I can feel it!!! Comeback win is in our future!!!

  16. Two shots to get 1 run – how hard could that be?

  17. At least NY isn’t throwing Rivera out there to close!

  18. That was at least a foot outside. Amazing he fouled it off.

  19. This Yankee reliever has read the book on Bruce. Crushes the fastball – looks like a little leaguer on off speed pitches – especially hooks.

  20. That’s the book on this entire team it seems!!! Can’t hit junk!

  21. What is Bruce hitting – .228? If that continues fans, everyone can start making other plans for October than watching Reds baseball.

  22. Well I sure hope the plan is to rely on a bunch of multiple HR games from Pena from here on out.

  23. If the Reds can hold the score as is, they can win this thing in the 9th. Go Reds!

    • Like the optimism. And these Reds hitters better bring their hitting shoes the rest of this week-end – especially since 4 of the 5 Yankee starters that started this season are out. The Reds need to start hitting. Pena up – make it 3.

    • We’re winning this Sergeant I can feel it!!!!

  24. gotta keep winning series and we will be fine.

  25. Ludwick 0-3 means he is due. Go Reds!

  26. Pena making it 3!!!

  27. Come on Reds – Ludwick is sorry. WE NEED A LF (AND A DH WHEN PLAYING AL).

    • I read that as – we need ALF. Was thinking, I know we have a lousy bench but I don’t think a cartoon puppet is going to help. HA … I kill me.

  28. Wow – just wow Ludwick

  29. and he’s swinging on 2-0 pitch because ……???

  30. At least we won’t see David Phelps again this season

  31. Keep Heisey in LF the rest of this series

  32. Santiago gonna tie it up here

  33. 9th inning, 2 outs… you choices are: Ramon Santiago, Kris Negron, Donald Lutz, Neftali Soto, Fire Your GM.

    • And tell Bob to sell the team cause he is just as much to blame…

      • I believe I would have taken a shot with Lutz for Satiago with 2 outs to see if he could have popped one up and reached that short porch. It would have been a long shot (the odds not the distance to the porch), but a shot anyway. Negron would have played 2nd in the bottom of the inning.

  34. Pena kept it from being a total snoozer

  35. Let’s get the cobwebs out tonight boys! Comeback and take this series!!!!

  36. Lost to a not very good Yankees team

    • I’m not happy about it either but this happens. Gotta hit period. Too many bats on the shoulders tonight!!!

    • Totally agree – here’s hoping Billy H, Frazier and Bruce get off the snide tomorrow. Frazier snoozing on his 2nd AB is not going to cut it at all. Kid, get over the big head and get back to work.

  37. Well, the Reds had a chance to win the game to the very end, but whatta ya gonna do when Beltran gets a check swing double it might not be your night, it happens. We’ll get em tomorrow. Go Reds! Adios Amigos.

  38. This was a very winnable game, but the Red’s offense acted like they were sleep walking.
