The Reds and Brewers wrap up their 3-game set in Cincinnati this afternoon. The winner of this rubber match takes the series. The Reds could use the win in order to regain the game in the standings that they lost yesterday in that tough 1-0 defeat.

Mat Latos faces the Brewers for the 2nd time since his return from the DL. In his first trip to the mound against Milwaukee, Latos pitched 6 shutout innings. The Reds may need a similar effort (or better) in order to capture this series deciding game.

  1. Finally, Bruce begins, just begins to earn his jack.

  2. That dang Bruce, when are they gonna cut that guy loose?

  3. BRUCE !!!! Big slumpbuster !!!

  4. It’s gonna BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE……..GONE, GONE, GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Back on the “Smiling Side of the Scoreboard”.

    Go Reds!!!

  6. Like I said earlier, if Bruce hits we’ll be ok. But he HAS to hit.

  7. finally. Bruce… he was hitting all game long w. nothing to show for..til now

  8. So much negativity and then KAPPOW!! Bruce says gimmie a break.

  9. Bruce off the snide thank goodness!!!!

  10. Latos owes Bruce a steak dinner.

  11. Happy for Latos also! That man deserves some run support!!!

  12. good for Bruce… love that man…good or bad….deserving.

    hopefully Chapman shows up

  13. I believe if we will all use George Grande’s adages, we will be better fans then the Cards, Buccos, Bew Crew, and the Cubbies have. Who is with me?

  14. Huh, well okay.. that’s odd.

    • Someone insinuated, Reds fans may not be exactly the “best”. Who is a bigger better fan then GG?

      • I meant Brox pitching the 9th in a save situation was odd. Grandisms are a bit much for me but I like his attitude in the booth. Seems like the kind of guy you’d love to have as a tour guide.

        • Sweet. Actually it seems that George has been a bit of a good luck charm. 4 of 4 in SF and 2 of 3 against “the Crew”. Reds can be down by 10 runs and Grande will act as if he just popped out of a birthday cake.

      • I can’t stand him. Nice guy but he sucks as a broadcaster.

      • George got very excited when that ball left the yard. Can’t remember such an outburst.

        • George Gande’s homerism is fine with me – the dude can definitely get excited. Now Marty, he is another story as he is going to be one cranky old man if and when he finally gets there. Now Joe Nuxhall, on the other hand, was cool beyond belief – and I for one still sorely miss him.

  15. Hopefully Billy will have his “Happy Feet” on in the bottom of the 9th.

  16. Broxton is well capable, but what did I miss with Chapman not being available?

  17. Reckon Chapman has picked up BP’s flu bug?

  18. Wonder if there’s a deal in the works or if Chapman is hurt. Has to be one or the other.

  19. Zack throws some leather around.

  20. COZART!!!!!!! He can pick em

  21. Zack attack !!!!!!!!!!

  22. Aronlis Chapman traded for some hitting. Jonathan Broxton now the Reds closer. (tic)

  23. 2 out of 3 ain’t bad!

  24. I’ll tell you what.. the Reds have done very well in the Central this year so far.

  25. I wonder what Latos was saying to Mes right after the game

  26. Reds continue their mastery of the Brewers. Now 7-3 against them this year.

    • They were without Braun – Reds without Votto. Even considering that, the Reds are the better team. But man, they need some -O- big time. Would have no problem with this at all if this HR by Bruce actually got him going.

  27. Wow, will be positive about Bruce for once – man that kid can hit. (tic)

  28. Good win… would have been nice to get a sweep. Great defense today, but that’s pretty much the rule around here. BP and Mes with nice days at the plate as well.

  29. J. Broxton should be an All-Star. Period.

  30. A big win for the Reds. It’s good to be six out instead of eight. Let’s hope those young Marlins can take care of the Cardinals.

  31. Fun win. No news on Chapman? Weird day for Reds regarding players and their availability to play (see Votto thread). I’m gonna bet on “back tightness” for Aroldis. Man it’s fun beating the Brewers.

  32. Sounds like Old Smitty fell asleep again when Ludwick was thrown out at third. Gave no sign whatsoever. That Smitty, he’s a keeper.
