The Reds can climb back to the .500 mark with a win tonight against the Pirates. At this point in the season, it would be a nice baby step start to getting back into the division hunt.

Alfredo Simon will look to win his 10th game of the season with a victory tonight. Simon has been way better than anyone expected him to be to this point and I’m willing to bet the ranch no one had him projected to win 10 games this season, let alone by mid-June.

Discuss the game here Reds fans!!

  1. Maybe he figured there would be a rain delay and didn’t want a new pitcher to start an inning and then have to stop for a delay.

  2. Thank God for mother nature. Watching Simon try to push 120 pitches in a blowout was making me wonder how Price was going to be fired the next day when Simon heard something pop.

    Whew, whew, whew.

  3. The baseball gods are taking a hand for the Reds. Price will need to bring in a relief pitcher when they resume. Then I will be really nervous. Radar looks like a lot of water headed to the ball park

    • Hopefully they’ll call it fairly quickly what with the early game tomorrow.

  4. I didn’t catch everything Marty said, but I got the impression that he was saying that the rain shouldn’t last long and expects the game will resume shortly.

  5. while we are waiting UC Irvine is losing to Texas 1-0 in the college world series. Our Taylor Sparks is 0 for 3 in the game with 1 K

  6. Time to start the Redleg Nation “Banana Thread” : Has anyone been following the World Cup Soccer tournament. Its the biggest sporting event on the planet, yet has little impact on America’s sports scene. I haven’t watched a single game yet, but I probably will start watching if the American team advances past the opening round.

    • World cuppers are almost outscoring the college world series teams. The 1st home run of the tourney was just hit tonight

  7. Brewers losing 3-0 to the DBacks.

  8. I’m not keeping up with this game very well, but if/when this resumes who pitches the Reds out of this little jam?

  9. Reports on Twitter the tarp is coming off.

  10. Three-run homer for the Brew Crew. They can hit. Tie game.

    • Its amazing how the Brewers didn’t miss a beat in terms of scoring runs after losing Prince Fielder. (I kept wanting to type Cecil Fielder, I think that’s called old guy syndrome)

  11. C. Trent reporting 11:10 start time.

  12. Marty and WLW is back on the air. Go Reds!

  13. Simon out, Hoover in.

  14. Surely the remaining Pirate fans will be allowed to move down to the front rows.

  15. 5 pitches, one strike

  16. hi guys, did i miss anything …. ha ha ha

  17. Boy, can Hoover EVER come in and avoid walking someone – geeze – time and time again

  18. These walks kill me.

  19. Price needs to get some of these guys out of the game. It’s an early day tomorrow.

  20. That was funny, Cowboy said Harrison finally made an out, than Marty pointed out that was Harrison’s third out.

  21. Wow, the Jolly Roger is admitting unconditional surrender

  22. Too slow for Joey to hit.

  23. Joey is to cerebral to hit against a novice!

  24. The Pirates outfielder-pitcher walked J.J. Hoover in his first major league at-bat and strikes out Joey Votto. Never in my wildest dreams…

  25. 23,329 turned out for tonight’s titanic struggle, 23,329.

  26. Pirates right fielder that was pitching for the Pirates will be able to tell his children and Grandchildren that he struck out Joey Votto. Pretty good story to tell.

  27. The sucky part of our bullpen really sucks.

  28. All I can say is lets sweep em. Go Reds! Adios Amigos.

  29. Please Walt demote and or release Ondrusek and Hoover. Aside from that whata great game.

  30. I have to say something. I just checked Stubbs numbers. The dude is has a 300+ BA and is on pace to K only about 100 times. Unbelievable. Either the Rockies hitting coach knows something, or Stubbs worked out with someone else over the winter, or he finally had his “Ah-ha” moment over the off-season and finally decided to change his batting style.

    • Coors Field effect. He’s hitting .176/.208/.311 on the road this season
