More interleague play tonight as the Reds and Red Sox wrap up their brief two game stint.  Which means more weak hitting DH performances by the Reds (at least tonight it is Ludwick who is probably suited for the spot) and more sacrifice bunting and talk by the Reds.  Last night’s game was pretty upsetting, especially watching the 9th inning.

Nevertheless, tonight is a new night and a new game.  At some point, the law of averages dictates the Reds will win more of these 1-run games. Right?

Lineup:
1. Schumaker CF
2. Votto 1B
3. Phillps 2B
4. Frazier 3B
5. Pena C
6. Ludwick DH
7. Bernadina RF
8. Heisey LF
9. Cozart SS

  1. Four hits and another one run lose.

  2. Not sure why Marshall not facing AJ. The year Hoover has been having, it is kind of a given that he gives up a lead. His ERA is over 9 already this year. You had this game, and not sure if LeCure threw too many pitches last night, but why not use your best reliever in Lecure for the 8th and Broxton for the 9th. Also, I would have perhaps used Broxton for the two inning save. Get used to it….the Reds have an inconsistent offense, and even when healthly, are not world beaters on offense, so expect alot of 3-2 and 4-3 games. Which means…you have to rely on your bullpen pretty much every game. Sooooooo, when Reds are tied or ahead by one run late in the game, are you going to trust running Ondrusek & Hoover out there? Time to do what the Cardinals have done….tried other relievers. Can’t get much worse? Can It?

    • Cardinals don’t screw around. Guys get moved around or sent down if they’re not cutting it. Very little tolerance. Of course, their GM gives them many choices to work with, as well.

  3. Well, at least I didn’t have to miss back to back episodes of American Dad.

  4. Three runs on four hits. Four hits. This offense sucks. Reds were lucky to even be in the game with 4 hits.

  5. Very frustrating. Too many issues. Leake was strong, Another runner out going to home when he shouldn’t have. No one to carry team.

    • The guy who should be carrying it is no longer capable of it. And the Reds still owe him $200 million.

  6. This team is like a broken record – same issues different night – I am glad I DVr these games – can’t hardly stomach watching an entire game of offensive ineptitude in a nightly basis with this team – never fails that if they don’t cash in an opportunity it ALWAYS comes back to bite them – raise your hand if you knew that Hoover was gonna come in and give up the lead – I gave zero confidence in either he or Ondrusek- Cozart is regressing

  7. Also , left out nightly TOOTBLAN !!!

  8. These one run loses are not all bad luck – a lot are created by GROSS SRATEGIC MUSNANAGEMENT by Price – again , the definition of INSANITY = doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results — still trying to figure out the definition of ACCOUNTABILITY

  9. 21 innings, two 1 run losses and broxton doesn’t see the field and Marshall pitches 2/3 an inning after the game was lost. I just don’t understand this.
