Brewers at Reds (May 2, 2014)

Man I should bust out song lyrics in game threads more often!  It worked last night as the Reds broke out the bats late and pulled away to take the first game of this series against Milwaukee.

But instead of posting lyrics tonight, perhaps I’ll break out this oldie but goodie in honor of Milwaukee being in town…

1. Chris Heisey (R) LF
2. Joey Votto (L) 1B
3. Todd Frazier (R) 3B

  1. Those two homers Votto has lost this series is the difference between a 33-34 HR pace and a 22 HR pace for Votto this year.

  2. I opened Gameday, saw “Middle of the 5th, Due Up: and then BAs of .191, .154, and .133” and closed Gameday right back.

  3. Doesn’t it seem a little crazy that Simon so far has been better overall as a starter than both Leake and Cingrani, yet Simon is definitely going back to the pen once Latos is healthy?

  4. Reds used to NEVER let anything up the middle get through. Seems like every night, lately.

    • Not getting it done, but you sink or swim with him, you can’t move ’em all down

  5. What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on around here. Spend a few days in sick bay, get back only to discover that a mad scientist has taken over the lineup card. Go Reds!

    • We’ve been lost on the attendance the past few nights. Glad you’re feeling better.

  6. Not a great game by Bruce tonight. Is terrible throw cost the Reds that second run.

  7. Boy it’s almost like when you start your JV squad against a 1st place team’s ace you can’t score many runs. STRATEGERY.

  8. Obiwan never told you about your father.
He told me enough. He told me you killed him.
    I am your father!

Join me and together we can rule the galaxy as father and son. It is your destiny.

    • He and Bernadina have been “no bueno”. Both should be cut. I would think Soto will be sent out when Shumaker comes back. I’d call up Gotay from AAA and send down Bernadina as well.

    • A little too much importance being placed on a guy who might be your back-up catcher, not doing him any good riding the pine making out 2 or 3 times a week.

    • got ’em right where we want ’em, I presict a walk off grand slam by BP

  9. Good!
Your hate has made you powerful! Now, fulfill your destiny and take your father’s place at my side.
No, I’ll never join you. You have failed your highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me.
So be it, Jedi. If you will not be turned, you will be destroyed!

  10. Ok…I get running out a Sunday Special lineup from time to time. You have to get guys playing time and statistically it might be better to do it all at once. But in the 2nd game against a 1st place team with 2 more to play with their ace on the mound? Could this be any more predictable of a result? Is Dusty calling this shit in to Price?

  11. A weak lineup rears it’s ugly head tonight. Perralta pitched a good game but this team can’t hit most pitching anyway.

Jay Bruce’s bat looks slow and loopy. He may be striking out on bad breaking balls because he’ s pressing but he had plenty of fastballs right down the middle and he’s so behind on them that all he can do is foul them off.

Can’t blame this one on having BP in the 3 hole tonight. Frazier had a double but a rally killing double play in the first

Cozart can’t get a hit because he’s diving his head and shoulders in on most pitches. Just watch close, his head ends up over the plate after almost every swing. Looks very off balance.

This team acts as if they have never seen a breaking ball in the dirt because they sure do swing a almost every one they see.

Wasting some great pitching as for the 9th time this year this was a game in which they scored less than 2 runs as well as their 4th time being shutout.

    OUCH. This is painful.

  12. Nice lineup construction tonight Price – AAA special – this team is just pitiful offensively – wasted another good pitching performance

  13. Get Jay one of those giant red whiffle ball bats – might be able to make contact with something then

  14. walt gonna wait till reds 10 games out before making any roster movers – been sitting on his hands for well over a year now
