Down on the Farm

Game played on 09/08/13

Rookie

Billings suspended game and scheduled games were canceled…their season is over.

Hope that you’ve enjoyed this season’s Down On the Farm as much as we’ve enjoyed bringing it to you.

Thanks for reading.

I’ve been a Reds fan since the late ’60’s, with my luck of being able to attend plenty of games at Riverfront during the BRM era. I was sitting in the Green Seats in the OF when Pete came home in ’84 and was in the Red seats when Glenn Braggs reached over the fence in ’90 to beat the Pirates. I have had many favorites from Jim Maloney to Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin, Adam Dunn, and Jay Bruce.

  1. Thank you for all the updates all season(s) long.

What do you think of Chad Rogers making the big league roster next year?

  2. Look how many 1st-round draft choices are in the bigs.

    Alonso and Grandal(hence Latos)
    Frazier
    Leake
    Stubbs (hence Choo)
    Mesoraco
    Bruce
    Bailey

OR, basically every single one since 2004 (Bailey) and 05 (Bruce).

I went back to Ryan Wagner, 2003, to find one who isn’t.

Wondering if the newer guys — Nick Travieso, Stephenson and Erwin — will make it.

    • @Johnu1: I think Stephenson is a shoe-in to make the bigs. Not sure about Travieso yet and probably still to early to tell on Phil Ervin. Although, I like Ervin’s chances.

      • @prjeter: I definitely like Ervin’s chances. A college first rounder should have probably started a few levels higher than Billings so it’s hard to know how good he’ll really be playing guys who were going to their senior high school prom a year ago, but all signs show some very encouraging results before getting injured in Dayton.
