Game Thread: Reds at Cubs (2013.08.13)

I love it when the Reds play the stupid Cubs. It always makes for a good day or night. A win tonight by the good guys means we gain ground on someone in the division as the Pirates and Cardinals square off against one another. This is starting to get real fun and interesting again, I hope it can continue!

Homer Bailey takes to the mound tonight and let’s hope his offense joins him. Keep up the winning Reds! Discuss the game here!

  1. What a wasted chance to gain a game on Pitt. We’d be only 3 1/2 games behind and still 1 1/2 behind the Cards. Dusty blows yet ANOTHER winnable game.

  2. I am late to the dance tonight. From the looks of things, this is a repeat episode. Yes, I have seen it before. Sigh.

  3. Good lord, this place is depressing.

It seems like it is worse now than it was back before the Reds could even get a sniff of the playoffs.

    • @preach: I’ll settle for one, and be mighty greatful. … Great job by Hoover, after same by LeCure and Parra. Let’s win 1 for those guys.

  4. May not have a role, but what a performance!!!! Hoover is worth 1,000 Franciscos!!!!

  5. Waxing positive (and hopelly not foolishly), I’d say the reds are due for a long ball.

  6. You think Billy Hatcher told Ludwick NOT to slide head first into 3rd, if the opportunity presents itself?

  7. Man, I wish Izzy would have shot that ball over the head of someone. Both corner infielders were in front of the plate on that last pitch.

  8. What a comeback by Choo, even if swinging at the first pitch was agreeably stupid… Give Dusty an extension now

  9. Wow, the cubs’ announcer just said that he had been on teams where it was a fine for an offensive player to draw a lead off walk and double fine for lead off walk from 7th inning on. lol

  10. As much as our manager tries to give this game away, our bullpen is that much better than theirs

  11. Sorry guys, the Reds might win this. I know that winning makes it more difficult to be upset, but I know you’ll still find a way. Good luck.

  12. Votto now 1-8 w/ bases loaded this year. I hope he is saving them up for the playoffs.

  13. The 8th wonder of the world is baseball and the 9th wonder is how bad the Cubs are at playing it.

  14. Wow. Big hit by Choo, but Votto and BP gotta add some on there. Oh well. bring on the missle launcher.

      • And this one belongs to the Reds, piece of cake. (As I recharge my defibrillator) As the great Ernie Banks would say “Lets Play Two” tomorrow. Go Reds! Adios Amigos.

  15. Is it me, or does Chapman always seem to have issues with his uniform. I think they need to find him an alternative material.

  16. No, I was offline for a while as well. Cubs have walked 8, and we have been swinging at everything. That’s amazing.

  17. Chappy looking good!

Let’s hope the Reds sweep the Cubbies tomorrow in preparation of a huge series with the Brewers.

  18. Reds’ bullpen is pretty good.

    Go for the sweep tomorrow.

    WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  19. If the Reds had been playing any other team, I’d have been very worried. I’m almost convinced it’s physically impossible for the Reds to lose to this team.

  20. Nice pick by Frazier!!! On to the matinee finale tomorrow. Let’s sweep ’em and move on up.

  21. Great win for the Reds. Loved hearing CHOOOOO!! on the big hit in the eleventh. Four of the Reds six runs tonight were scored by players taking walks. Get on base, baby.
