  1. At least the bullpen has been pretty good lately. Manny Para has been doing ok.

  2. I think we might have to hit rock bottom before real changes occur, which means missing the playoffs this season…..

  3. Here’s our recent game run totals:

This team is 17-16 since June 1st. Yikes.

    • @Eric: Yikes indeed. The main reason to worry about the Reds. The offense is way to hit and miss.

        • @Hank Aarons Teammate: Yeah, playing .500 ball with a mediocre offense isn’t worth being concerned about? I guess if missing the postseason is fine with you. This team is going to hit their hard stretch and struggle while other teams continue to improve and get hot.

    • @Eric: Yikes indeed. The main reason to worry about the Reds. The offense is way to hit and miss.

      • @Larry1980: The Reds are built around pitching and defense. Both of those things will keep them in ballgames (especially pitching), but the offense has to perform at some level for them to win. There are going to be days like this.

I can’t say that I LIKE the Reds offense, but it’s not a bad offense, just an average one. Remember the ’69 Mets? They won with dominant pitching and a nothing offense. They only excelled in strike outs and were near the bottom in the NL in most other offensive categories. It’s ugly, but it works.

        • @I-71_Exile: It just doesn’t work everytime. What does work everytime? Being good at everything. You don’t have to be great at everything. But, most champions are probably good at everything. And, this offense is just average. Lots of runs or not, when so many come in one or two games, they are meaningless.

  4. 4-6-1 since June 1st in winning series. They 4 they won? Cubs, Brewers, Giants, and they did take the June 1st series at GABP against the Pirates. Not gonna cut it.

  5. 17 of the next 20 games are on the road.
Reds are 20-22 on the road this year as opposed to 30-16 at home.
Brutal west coast road trip to end July.

Make or break part of the schedule.

  6. Next 17 of 20 on the road followed by five at home against St.Louis and Oakland. Unless the Reds inconsistent offense wakes up, they will be settled in third place looking up at the Cards and Pirates.
