Today is a special day.  Not only are the Reds playing the Cubs, which is always nice, but it’s a holiday for nerds like myself.  I can’t think of anything that would help the Reds get “going” more on this particular day than a little… FORCE!

Tony Cingrani has been a force since being called up and he’ll look to improve on his perfect record today and record his third win of the season.

So Reds, May the Fourth be with you!  Go Reds!

  1. FYI- The Reds are on Monday Night Baseball on ESPN vs Atlanta.

  2. Broxton threw 7 pitches yesterday and 12 today. But god forbid we let him start the 9th in a save situation, because only one person on the team knows how to do that. Now I imagine neither Chapman or Broxton can pitch tomorrow, so the Reds better have at least a 4 run lead.

  3. I’d say there’s exactly zero chance Chapman’s available tomorrow. Good news is…we’ve got Latos going!

  4. Way to lose, Cubs! Oops… I mean way to win, REDS!

  5. Is it just me or has Chapman’s velocity dropped a little? Rarely this year has he hit 100mph. Not saying that hes throwing the ball slow, but you think that his preparation for being a starter this spring forced him to take some velocity off his fastball to be able to throw more pitches in a game and he hasn’t regained it yet?

    • @MrRedlegs3900: His average fastball before yesterday was 97.2, I think. It’s been down each year, this year I think it’s down 1 MPH from last year.

  6. Classic Marty: complimenting Bruce on his single to drive in a run, when it was just a lucky blooper.

  7. Good win for the Reds, you have to give em credit for taking advantage of the opportunities the lovable losers presented them with. A sweep would be sweet. Go Reds! Adios Amigos.

  8. I feel like Chapman’s had more deep counts this year, but I looked on fangraphs yesterday (before the stats from yesterday were posted) and his strike percentage was actually way up from last year. I should look to see what his pitches/IP are this year.

He’s been very unimpressive the last two days, that’s for sure.

  9. Oh, by the way, the Reds @ Cubs tomorrow will be broadcast on WGN.

  10. Of course, Votto walked in the 8th. Where are the complaints?
