For games played 4/27/13:

Minor League Player of the Day: 24 year old, Neftali Soto, went 3-4 and hit his first homer of the season in a losing effort. A 3rd round draft pick in 2007, Nefi started the season on the DL and the lack of power that he showed last year as he moved to AAA has continued thus far into this year. (.273/.322/.382)


Lehigh Valley 5 – Louisville 3

Nefi Soto was 3-4 and hit his first homer of the season and Nevin Ashley was 2-4.

Greg Reynolds started for the Bats and threw 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits with a walk and 8 striketouts.

Jose Arredondo had a blown save and took the loss with a bad outing, pitching 1.1, giving up 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. His ERA is 4.50 working out of the Bats bullpen.


Pensacola at Tennessee was postponed


Visalia 2 – Bakersfield 1

Juan Perez was 1-4 with a homer (1) and that was the offense for the Blaze.

Jon Moscot gave the Blaze a good start, 5.1 IP 0 R 0 ER 2 H 3 BB 7 K. Mike Dennhardt took the loss in relief, giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits and a walk in 1.2 innings.

Brooks Pinckard threw 2 hitless innings, striking out 3.


Peoria 7 – Dayton 5

Jesse Winker went 3-4 with a double. That was about all the highlights for the Dragons on the day.

  1. Lets give Soto a little more time. He may have been hurting at the begging of the season thus hampering his stats. Only 59PA so far. No one is hitting on Louisville yet. He’s 24 and doesn’t need to be rushed. He may just turn into another Frazier who needed extra time.

  2. Not disagreeing, but his SLG took a pretty big drop last year moving from AA to AAA and thus far, it hasn’t gone back up.
