Game Thread: Nationals at Reds (2013.04.06)

What can the Reds do to follow up last night’s 15-0 stomping of the Nationals in which they bombed 6 homeruns?  How about win again and make it 4 in a row!  Or maybe win 16-0!

The Reds will send their #5 starter to the mound today in the form of Mike Leake.  Leake did not have an outstanding spring and his inclusion as the Reds fifth starter aroused plenty of spring debate.  But with that said, fans will be cheering for him today to shut down the Nats and their “Natitude”.

Discuss the game here and as always… GO Reds!

  1. Reds made it interesting. Hoover, you can rest your arm on the bus ride to Louisville tomorrow. Arredondo, come on down.

  2. Hey you can’t say the Reds didn’t go down without a fight. They made the Nationals sweat to earn this win. No sweat for us though, we’ll get em tomorrow for sure. Go Reds!

  3. Hannahan and Bruce both took a pitch down the middle and then swung at two terrible pitches.

    • @Hank Aarons Teammate: Was definitely wondering that myself. Couldn’t Parra have been left in to get a cheap save and rest the remainder of the pen? It wasn’t like he was gonna be available today anyway.

          • @Brian Van Hook: But he could have left Parra in to finish? Probably wouldn’t have made a difference. Hoover is exausted though. Marshall has to be cleared to the DL though, if he’s still that bad. We have too many good teams coming up to keep screwing around with this.

          • @wildwestLV: yeah, that was my point, from a few comments above. let parra finish, and even get a cheapie save in the process … but unless parra got hurt, dusty had already decided to change pitchers for the ninth inning, yet needed somebody to go to the plate.

    • @Hank Aarons Teammate:

Hoover likely pitched last night with a 15-run lead because he kinda sucked the first two times he went out there this regular season. Parra only threw 27 pitches yesterday – he had to be available tonight as well.

  4. Whew. Good thing there’s no chance of exta-innings tomorrow, with Cueto vs. Strasburghttp://redlegnation.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

  5. Well I called it when it happened – that blown call on Joey at first base that cost us a run ended up deciding the game.

  6. I think it woulda made more sense for them to put Parra in. He only threw 23 pitches yesterday. A lot less overused than Hoover.
