The Reds will look to recover tonight on opening NIGHT after a disappointing opening DAY loss.  I don’t know about everyone else, but I for one like how the Reds pump up both of these first two games, if for no other reason than attendance purposes.

The Reds will send Mat Latos to the mound to face C.J. Wilson of the Rangers.  Reds fans are optimistic that Latos will pick up where he left off last season and have a better start to the 2013 season than he did 2012.  In fact one editor thinks Latos is the pick to win the NL Cy Young Award this season.

If you’re going to the game tonight, suit up, enjoy watching the Reds walk the “Reds” carpet, enjoy the game, and enjoy the festivities.  If you’re like me, sit back on the couch, turn on the television, and discuss the Reds game here.

  1. This guy throws easy gas.

  2. Cozart – .000 BA .000 OBP .000 SLG Nice!

  3. I’d be upset if that wa.s our SS

  4. We have to realize that the Reds are opening the season playing the two teams that could very well be playing each other in the World Series. I’m not breaking out the defibrillator just yet if the Reds get off to a slow start against the Angels and Nationals. I have every reason to believe that the Reds will in contention for the NL pennant along with the Nationals before its all said and done.

  5. Yes, but when you are up 4-0 you have to win.

  6. With Paul and Choo due up, I would pinch run for Hanny.

  7. Or, it would be a total waste…..

  8. Another nice offensive explosion by the Reds.

  9. How can our closer be pitching in a non-save situation?!? Danger, Danger….

  10. Is it time for the Jacoby comments? Solid Angels relief pitching but not the greatest collective batting approach.

  11. Just a little high.

  12. On a night like tonight temp wise and the strong bullpen we have why did Latos pitch as long as he did?

Also Reds say 13-14 weeks on Ludwick, so we are really looking at 4-5 months in truth..

  13. Hey Chappy, hit the bull.

  14. This has been a very frustrating game with the exception of the 4th inning.

  15. Walked the batter in front of Trout. Sigh.

  16. That looked like a little acting job to get that last ball. Was it really inside. It was moving awfully fast.

  17. WTF is Thom talking about?

  18. I’m not sure to what you are referring, but I couldn’t help to shake my head when he said that if the Angels bullpen was successful it would help their confidence. He should leave the revelations to John the Apostle.

  19. Choo seems to have a rare talent for getting on base.

  20. 0-3 and still on base twice. That’s a leadoff guy.

  21. Moment of truth

  22. O.K. Here’s the plan: If we can get the lead-off hitter on first, we bunt him over to second. (I’m just trying to instigate a fight) 35,257 on hand for tonight’s titanic struggle, 35,257.

  23. @AnnapolisHoosier – you concede the run there because there was also a man on 2B. So if you bring the infield in and a ball gets through, then you probably give up 2 runs.

  24. Did we just bunt Votto to first base again?

  25. Two really good speed guys, Votto due up, and we get this.

  26. The only person that can Joey Votto is Dusty Baker.

  27. Oh, no. The dreaded bunt!

  28. YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. Thank you Mike Scioscia

  30. Smiling ear to ear in real life right now. 🙂

  31. Woooohoooo!!!! And this one belongs to the Reds.

  32. They should have walked Joey. Their mistake. Reds win!

  33. That Baker is brilliant. Scioscia, not so much.

    Yeah!!!

  34. I can’t believe they pitched to Joey there. His run didn’t matter and they blew the DP opportunity, especially with Brandon due up. Since the Angels had that brain cramp, we are doomed to see this play the rest of the season. well, Reds win!!!!!!

  35. Joey V. Coming up big in the Clutch!

  36. LWBlogger, I understand that but in the eighth I would have considered bringing in the infield, but you are probably right it was the right move.

  37. Votto is a fantastic interview too. He never fails to impress.

  38. Reds Win!

  39. I’m stunned… who would EVER pitch to Votto in that situation? I was ready for another IBB.

Super happy they won, but a little terrified that it worked, so now it’s all we’ll likely see.

  40. Alright haters, how do you disagree with the Dusty bunt idea now???

Just kidding…they could have easily walked Votto if Phillips didn’t hit that 3 run HR earlier.

  41. Noone is more automatic in a 9th inning game winning situation than MVottoP!

  42. Nice comeback win for the Redlegs. We’ll make it two in a row tomorrow. Go Reds! Adios Amigos.

  43. WOOOOOO

  44. I love BP but Votto is the last guy I’m going to let beat me.

  45. Dusty Baker is an incredible in game manager, a humanitarian, and a fine American. Did you know he played with Hank Aaron?

  46. Is there any doubt Votto will lead the league in walks this year?

  47. I’m sure every Angels blog is ripping Sochia right now.

  48. I can’t believe Dusty took the bat out of Votto’s hands in a critical situation again tonight. I REALLY can’t believe Scioscia gave it right back to him and said “No, please, hit and beat us if you can.”

    He can.

    Amazing.

  49. I have got to say, JV reminds me a lot of George Brett in his prime. Ice in them veins!

  50. @AnnapolisHoosier – If the game was tied in the 8th I would have brought them in.

  51. Is it just me or did Votto’s post game interview sound a lot like an oscar speech. I would like to thank my hitting coach, my tape guy…
