Just saw a report that Bob Forsch, long time major league pitcher and Billings Mustangs pitching coach, collapsed at his Tampa home Thursday night and passed away.
Bob Forsch, one of a handful of pitchers to have two no-hit games and the third winningest pitcher in Cardinals history, collapsed at his home near Tampa Fla., and died suddenly Thursday night.
Early reports from his wife, Jan, were that Forsch, 61, had suffered an aneurysm in his upper chest.
A major loss to the Reds minor league system and to baseball. The thoughts and prayers of Redleg Nation go out to the Forsch family.
I’ve been a Reds fan since the late ’60’s, with my luck of being able to attend plenty of games at Riverfront during the BRM era. I was sitting in the Green Seats in the OF when Pete came home in ’84 and was in the Red seats when Glenn Braggs reached over the fence in ’90 to beat the Pirates. I have had many favorites from Jim Maloney to Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin, Adam Dunn, and Jay Bruce.
