  1. Fay reports a team meeting where Baker complained to the team about the missed sign on the squeeze (T. Wood) and Brandon Phillips swinging at a 3-0 pitch.

Homer pitching tonight with Mesoraco as his catcher.

If I was any player on that team about now I just would have sat there and laughed at Dusty…

  2. Homer won’t phone it in, but he better not give up any runs, because I think the rest of this team has quit. Interested to see how well he works w/ Mesoraco.

    Brandon Phillips 4
    Dave Sappelt 7
    Joey Votto 3
    Jay Bruce 9
    Juan Francisco 5
    Drew Stubbs 8
    Devin Mesoraco 2
    Paul Janish 6
    Homer Bailey 1

  3. @dn4192: Dusty probably explains away this whole season by reasoning that the Reds swung at a LOT of 3-0 pitches and missed a TON of signs…

  4. I’m still watching for all the reasons you watch an also ran. How will the guys who’ve been around finish the year? How are the new kids looking? Also, it’s still baseball. Soon, the long national nightmare that is the off-season will be upon us.

  5. I’m watching because I paid for the Extra Innings package to watch this joke of a season, and I have to get every last pennies worth of my investment. That being said, I hope they win and Dusty is gone after this season…

  6. Go Young Guns! Go! Mesoraco!

  7. Homer has the ol’ long ball working.

  8. One more Strike Out and Stubbs hits 200.

  9. Nice, Bruce.

Joey needs a day off – if he sits tomorrow, that will give him 2 days off.

  10. Thinking about the season I am just frustrated with management for not realizing sooner that we were dead in the water. Why not bring up and play the youngsters? The freaking manager? Who’s the boss? From the crop of kiddies we should be able to find two or three of them who can play ball. The stats will tell us something but there is more to the game than stats. Which of the boys has the chutzpah to lead this team? A different manager would be a start yet Bob is too conservative to make the move. We SHOULD be on the path to continued excellence, can Bob, Walt & Dusty get over the hump?

  11. Amen SFredsfan!

Paul Janish should never see the field. There has to be a SS that can hit better than our two.

  12. Janish cleared the infield earlier and almost made the warning track on that one. He’s like a sniper…zeroing in a scope. Next time, he’s going yard. Or he’ll hit into a DP. One or the other. Either, or.

Janish was off to such a good start at the beginning of the season then everything went south after the injury.

  13. Solid start for Homer. Gave up only that GABP-special home run. Hopefully the bullpen can hold the lead.

  14. Homer is now hitting .297 – second to Joey Votto in the lineup tonight. Wonder if he can play third base? 🙂

  15. What a night Bailey’s had. 6 innings of 2 run ball plus 3 for 3! Hitting .297 on the season. Baseball is one crazy game!

  16. @Y-City Jim: I actually don’t know how much of his problems aren’t due to Dusty’s platooning SS this season. His D has been, still, pretty much solid, and if you’re in a batting slump, seeing pitches a few times every week isn’t going to help get you out of it.

  17. Walking Joey to get to Jay. I like it. Make them pay, Bruce.

  18. Damn kids. Missing signs…

  19. 200 and counting

  20. it is gasoline gang time for the Reds……

    • it is gasoline gang time for the Reds……

These guys are money in the bank for Reds opponents, Hopefully they all will be elsewhere next year

  21. @Jason Linden: Jason we are of like minds .. You are so so right. The off season is also my long national nightmare. After the playoffs and the world seies I will go into hibernation. I will wake up for a week or so for the winter meetings …to see if the Reds make any moves, then sleep until spring training. Lets enjoy the games and speculate on the Reds future while we can .
