Wait! Did you say the ‘Stache’ stole a base?

Exactly my thought… How did that happen?

Ha the pitcher and catcher must have REALLY not been paying attention.

Nice – Barnhart on base all 4 times to the plate…he has been on base in 14 of the 15 games he has played. Also in the Dragons game, Barnhart threw out both TinCaps who attempted to steal 2nd base. He has thrown out 10 of 24 (42%) attempts so far on the season.

Worth noting that Mesoraco has not yet had a passed ball at Louisville in 15 games this year or 13 games last year. He had 13 PB in 2010 in 80 games at A+/AA prior to his promotion to AAA. He had 25 PB in 2008/09 in 147 games at A/A+.

A lot of players had big days down there. Mesoraco, Frazier, Sappelt, and Yorman.

I don’t know why, but I’m excited about Felix Perez for some reason.

An oddity – players on the Bakersfield team have been HBP 22 times in 21 games.

Andrew Means has been beaned the most – 7 times in 20 of those games. Three other players (Campbell, LaMarre, Richburg) have each been HBP 3 times.

Compare that to team totals for the other affiliates: 11 times for Louisville, 6 times for Carolina, and 6 times for Dayaton. Except for Jeremy Hermida’s 3 HBP, no other Reds minor league has been HBP more than twice so far this season.

A Bakersfield strategy or a bunch of disliked players?

@Greg Dafler: Isn’t that Ken Griffy Sr there?

Note to Tom: Chattanooga isn’t our AA team anymore.

Devin Mesoraco has been very good on both sides, O/D, since arriving in Louisville.

You gotta love Minor League nicknames: the Fort Wayne Tin Caps… I love it.

Isn’t that Ken Griffy Sr there?

Yes, Griffey is the coach at Bakersfield. According to his stats page on baseball-reference.com, Griffey was only HBP 8 times as a Cincinnati Red (1,224 games) and only 14 times in his 2,097-game MLB career

Okay how long does Mesoraco stay in Louisville this season? Any way we start a poll on his call up date?

I have a sneaking suspicion that, barring super duper emergency, we don’t see Mesoraco up here until the rosters expand. For many reasons, the best of which would be not to interrupt his development this year, and because Corky is pretty capable if someone gets hurt. Speaking of which, when you said Corky “stole a base”, you mean he snuck out between innings when nobody was looking and physically *took* one of the bases, right?
