A bunch of us will be at the game tonight, for the first annual RN Get-Together at GAB. I hope you guys don’t burn the place down while we’re gone.

Bronson Arroyo will be pitching for the good guys, which seems hand-picked for me, doesn’t it? Here’s hoping for a great one.

Go Redlegs. Believe.

  4. Maybe next time, before there is school. Have fun guys, we’ll hold down the fort here.

The first 15,000 fans at Monday’s 7:10 p.m. game vs. Milwaukee will receive an 8×10 commemorative print of the cover of the current Sports Illustrated magazine, featuring All-Star first baseman Joey Votto

  8. I would have loved to come up to Cincy for tonight’s game but had to redo my mom’s plumbing for her kitchen. Major leak and put it off for two weeks due to my over-busy schedule. Just got home from taking care of her. Go REDS!

  9. Wow, that’s how JB started last night’s game. Any bets on what he does his next AB?

  10. Good job by Bruce going into 2nd hard

  11. quick 3-0 lead for the wlb: pujols rbi 2b; jjay 2-run hr.

  12. Bronson usually gives up a homerun … hopefully thats the only one he gives up tonight

  13. The MLB record for most homers in consecutive ABs is 4. About 6 guys have done it one game. About 2x that many have done it over the span of 2 or more games. Would love to see JB tie, or better yet, break that record tonight!

  14. @eastcoast redsfan: Figured it would take more than 1 run to win tonight anyhow.

  15. Would like to see Stubbs continue to hit

  16. Not a HR for Bruce ….. but still perfect at the plate

  17. after a 4-run 3rd it’s 5-3 NATS.

  18. MVP MVP!

  19. Gotta love Lohse pitching for the WLBs

  20. I love me some Joey Votto.

  21. Nice AB from Rolen after Votto ties it.

  22. great AB from scotty right there. i hope this turns into a big inning.

  23. Gomes is in a serious slump

  24. scratch that bit about a big inning.

  25. So, is Heisey the new batboy since PJ is playing?

  26. @eastcoast redsfan: he’s slumped more than 1/3 of the season. can’t remember the last time he hit a line drive

  27. come on bronson. keep it together.

in other news, kyle loshe just doubled in a run 5-4 nats.

  28. @hoosierdad: yes someone has to be.

  29. Dunn 3 run HR, 8-5 Nats

  30. adam dunn three run jack! 8-5 nats.

  31. 8-5 Nats!!!!

  32. Good to see Adam can still help us out.

  33. @Kyle: Kinda funny. We all posted the same thing at 8:37.

  34. Other editors giving Chad a hard time about something. Chad threatened to shut it down. Ahhh, good times. Excellent between inning entertainment tonight.

  35. Double for Rolen. Please PH for Gomes.

  36. Gomes with a hit! 1st and 3rd, no outs. Come on, Hanigan.

  37. Time for the young guns to come through now!

  38. Hanigan! 3-2.

  39. That’s one of the young guys. C’mon Stubbs and PJ.

  40. Bray’s warmng up? Arroyo’s at only 79 pitches. I’d prefer to keep him in the game.

  41. wow. i’d be shocked if they PH for arroyo.

  42. Damn. Got one back at least.

  43. Gotta figure with a pretty well rested BP, the 7th will be Arroyo’s last inning with him leading off. Hold ’em here and let’s get ’em in the 7th.

  44. How about PH with Francisco then the top of the order coming up.

  45. @hoosierdad: I’d rather see Cairo. The Reds need base runners and Francisco is not a disciplined hitter.

  46. @Kyle: Yeah, but Francisco is a lefty against the righty pitcher and can take one deep.

  47. hanigan strikes again!

  48. @Kyle: Also, Cairo in a slump and Francisco has been knocking the cover off the ball in AAA for the last couple of months.

  49. wlb have two on, one out; lopez up with pujols on deck.

  50. The Nats are in the process of blowing their game.

  51. OK, now I’m worried. I’m agreeing with DB. AHHHHHH!

  52. BA with 64 strikes and only 28 balls. Great effort.

  53. huge ab here with pujols up, two on, two out, down three.

  54. @hoosierdad: Exhibit A against Francisco- awful, awful AB.

  55. yikes. not a great ab there, juan.

  56. I would’ve sent Heisey to PH after bringing on the LH pitcher. No way the Cubbies were going to burn 2 relievers there.

  57. @Kyle: I liked Francisco against the RHP. Once the LHP was brought on, would’ve PH with Heisey.

  58. ouch, struck out the side.

  59. Holy crap, that check swing wasn’t anywhere close to a swing!

  60. Votto didn’t go there, but he caught a break on one of those pitches that was called a ball.

  61. Votto & the Reds were hosed that inning.

  62. @hoosierdad: Yeah, not a bad call. I’m just not a big Francisco fan yet. That is based on a handful of ABs though.

  63. @Kyle: I agree with you. But if you brought him up to be used as a LH PH, you gotta go with him there. But still, as soon as the LHP came on, would’ve brought on Heisey. Gotta figure the JB and MVP both being lefties, they weren’t going to bring on a RHP and burn the LHP for nothing.

  64. And Masset returns the favor. Time for the good guys to turn it on.

  65. Andrew Cashner is about to get destroyed.

  66. I like the 6.21 ERA on this pitcher, but not Rolen’s one pitch out.

  67. @Kyle: By destroyed, I meant a 1-2-3 inning on 8 pitches.

  68. Time running out. Don’t the REDS know about the RLN get-together tonight? Can’t disappoint Chad and the boys.

  69. At least the Nats are adding to their lead, but I am frustrated by the Reds’ offense tonight.

  70. Go NATS! 9-5

  71. @John D.: Same here. Reds have the 7-8-9 hitters up in the 9th, too. Hopefully Marmol can’t throw strikes tonight.

  72. Nats with the bases loaded and nobody out.

  73. NATS handing it to the Cards.

  74. 12-5 Nats. Come on, Reds.

  75. All that seperates the REDS from a 5 game lead is a sweet 9th inning comeback.

  76. Down to the last out now. Come on, Ramon.

  77. Why PH with Hernandez? This makes no sense at all.

  78. Dammit. Need the win tomorrow.

  79. Reds lose. Absent a collapse in DC, they lost no ground. The season is one day closer to being over, which works in the Reds favor. Still, it would have been good to get a win on RN night at the ballpark.

  80. Shoot. Great chance to go 5 up. A bummer of a game right there.

  81. WOW. 14-5 Nats. At least the lead stays at 4. The magic number goes to 31, I think.

  82. The Cards bullpen is going to be spent after what they’ve been through the last week or so.

  83. @hoosierdad: Well, those pesky rules say you can’t take a pitcher out w/o facing a batter anyways. So they could have had Heisey vs Russell if they’d have wanted.

I would have pinch hit Heisey there, period. You know they want Russell in for Bruce and Votto, so they’re either going to have to bring in a righty for one batter or leave in Wells. Either way, a better matchup than Francisco vs Russell.

  84. Anybody know what happened in the Cards/Nats game? Nats 1B coach + pitcher NOT in the game both ejected in the 3rd.

  85. @hoosierdad: No, I don’t but there was an odd play a few moments ago where Nyjer Morgan ran into the catcher instead of stepping on home plate and then was called out (the ball was nowhere near the plate) because other Nats’ players touched him. It was an odd thing to do.

    • No, I don’t but there was an odd play a few moments ago where Nyjer Morgan ran into the catcher instead of stepping on home plate and then was called out (the ball was nowhere near the plate) because other Nats’ players touched him. It was an odd thing to do.

Temamate Nationals’ catcher Ivan Rodriguez pushed him back to the homeplate. Only know this because I just saw the replay on ESPN>

  86. @hoosierdad: I’m not sure if this is true or if it has been discussed here, but I heard somewhere that the Cards one off day after the 20 straight games is now being used to make up a Marlins rain out. I’m not sure if this is true or not, but if so, that would mean that their off day before the Reds series would be their last rest day for the rest of the season.

  87. Just posting here to change my avatar again. Don’t like the other one.
