Nice column from ESPN’s Tim Kurkijan about Padres OF Will Venable, son of former Red Max Venable. The younger Venable played basketball at Princeton, and only played baseball intermittently, yet developed into a very nice young(ish) hitter.

And his dad won the Tom Kite Award for 1980s Reds.

This guy was runner-up.

  1. I saw Collins play in 1980 @ Riverfront Stadium, can’t really remember how he did (I was 9yrs.old), but I do remember Foster hitting a Home Run…it was against the Expos.

  2. The Tom Kite Award. That’s brilliant.
