Matt threw well for Carolina last night. Was helped out by 3 DP balls in the first three innings. Gave up a HR to the short RF porch (309 ft, he said the HR went 309 1/2 ft to get out). He also retired the last 8 hitters he faced. From the radio broadcast, was helped by a nice defensive play by Spotlight Player Logan Parker and also a nice catch by Todd Frazier in the outfield.

I just took a look at the schedule and the Dragons will be in town July 11-13. Which will be day 30-32 without a day off for Cedar Rapids. Yikes.

Unless I’m skipping June when I look at the calendar. Oops.

10 errors by Juan Francisco??? Just put him in left field or first already. We already have the market cornered on no glove third basemen w/ EdE5. This organization tends to be late to the party in recognizing when a player needs to move to another position. We saw it last year w/ Frazier and Valaika.

GOMES!!! (Now batting .400/.500/.900 vs. LHP’s in 20 AB’s, for anyone keeping score at home…)

  6. Dan

Gomes in his MAJOR LEAGUE career vs. LHP’s by the way: .266/.369/.510 (489 PA’s)

We need him on the big club, today.

Way to go Matt! & congrats on the move to Carolina.

Michael made his pitching debut vs 2nd graders last week and struck out the side. He repeated that performance again Saturday. Michaels career line is now 2 appearances, 6 batters faced & 6 strikeouts!

    Go Mudcats!

Dan, I’m with ya. Is there anyone out there that would rather see D-Mac instead of Gomes? No.

A note on John Fay’s blog says that Heisey has reached safely in all 26 of his games.

Webb and Wood were both effectively wild? Both these guys have issued a ton of walks this year.
