June 7, 1966: The Reds select Gary Nolan from Oroville High School in Oroville, California in the first round of the amateur draft. Darrell Chaney was chosen in the second round. At Oliver Morton High School in Hammond, Indiana, he was one of the most highly recruited QBs in the nation, but chose baseball over football.
