Louisville 6, Buffalo 5 (AAA)
—Daryl Thompson took the win, improving his record to 5-0 in AAA. Thompson went six innings, giving up two runs on five hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 BBs. His ERA is now down to 2.95.
—Todd Coffey got his second save, with 2 scoreless innings. His ERA is 3.44.
Brevard County 5, Sarasota 0 (A-Advanced)
–Reds lose here, but they had to play without 3B Juan Francisco, who went 1-2 in the All-Star Futures Game at Yankees Stadium. (Meanwhile, Chattanooga (AA) SS Chris Valaika went 0-1, striking out on three pitches.)
–Not much else to speak of in Sarasota, as no Red had more than one hit.
—Daniel Guerrero pitched seven strong innings, giving up 3 R, striking out 5 and walking only 1. Guerrero’s ERA dropped to 6.46.
—Derrick Conatser picked up the win, going two scoreless innings.
–2B Angel Cabrera went 2-3 with a HR, 2B, BB, scored and run and knocked one in. On the season, Cabrera is now .250/.320/.347 with 2 HR and 12 RBI.
Orem 17, Billings 5 (Rookie)
–Ugh. SP Clayton Shunick‘s line: 9 earned runs while getting just two outs in the first inning. The 21-year old from NC State’s ERA for the day was 121.50; for the season, it’s 7.78 with a 1-1 record. He will have better days.
Sarasota (Rookie) postponed.
