Afternoon start at Great American Ballpark today, with Aaron Harang facing the Phils in his second start of the 2008 season. Philadelphia will counter with Adam Eaton, so the potential for the Redlegs to climb back above .500 is certainly there today.

Discuss it here….

  1. Looks like they are actually going to get this one started on time.

  2. Lineups…for the Reds:

    Patterson CF
    Keppinger SS
    Griffey RF
    Phillips 2B
    Dunn LF
    Encarnacion 3B
    Hatteberg 1B
    Bako C
    Harang P

  3. …for the Phils:

    Rollins SS
    Victorino CF
    Utley 2B
    Howard 1B
    Burrell LF
    Jenkins RF
    Dobbs 3B
    Coste C
    Eaton P

  4. Whoa! Patterson with a walk!!!

  5. eaton sucks, they should eat him up

  6. A Keppinger shift?

  7. Kepp is in elite company. Dunn, Griffey, and Keppinger shifts!

  8. With a little work the Reds could have a “shifty” lineup.

  9. Strike ’em out, throw ’em out…nice.

  10. Dunn the Defender!!!!

  11. Dunn’s a gold glover.

  12. Dunn the Hitter!!

  13. Classic Hatteberg!!

  14. What’s the prognosis on Valentin? DL?

  15. Cat stepped on the keyboard!

  16. So what’s the verdict on Valentin’s hammy?

  17. Mr. OBP will get to lead off in the bottom of the third.

  18. I hate it when the opposition scores two-out runs.

  19. Isn’t this the third straight inning where the defender recording the final out leads off for the Reds?

  20. Ball not carrying in the cold air.

  21. Word is that Valentin is out for a couple of days, no DL trip (according to the person filling in for Fay.)

If Hatteberg is the emergency catcher, I suppose that means Votto’s not pinch hitting, unless we want to see some adventures at first with Freel/Dunn/Griff or similar.

  22. That isn’t Lucinda Williams singing that FarmersOnly.com commercial is it?

  23. That’s what makes Harang a great one! Bearing down when the going gets tough!

  24. Was that JTM commercial with Arroyo and Welsh produced by the same people that do the Burger King commercials because it is about as bizarre?

  25. Likely Harang’s last inning of work today.

  26. Boy oh boy, we are making Eaton look good. I cant believe some of the anemic swings they are putting on some of his pitches.

  27. Now let’s see Votto do something at the plate!!

  28. Incidentally the emergency catcher is out of the game.

  29. Patterson cruises one!

  30. Patterson has yet to single this season.

  31. Make’m pay BP.

  32. I’ll take a shot like Kepp’s here from BP.

  33. BP can’t deliver. Now let’s see if Coco can shut them down in the 9th.

  34. Coco is getting it up there at 95-96. Nice to have that kind of heat at the end of a game. It’s been a while for the Reds.

  35. I’m already lovin’ Coco Cordero. Now Dunn needs to end this one with a walkoff homer, his first of the season.

  36. 3-0 on Dunner.

  37. BB. Now Edwin with a chance for more heroics.

  38. 2 men on!

  39. Another BB. Reds are threatening in the bottom of the 9th.

  40. Good bunt by Hopper, not surprisingly.

  41. REDS WIN!!!!

  42. Awesome! Reds win!

  43. Great comeback win!

  44. “Hammering Hank” Bako … who wudda thunk? πŸ˜†

  45. Bako and Patterson are the heroes! I’ll take that every day.

  46. Wow. And Freel with the speed at third takes away a play at the plate. Nice Win!

  47. Note to Dusty Baker:

Walks set up the table in the 9th.

  48. Dusty passing out some love to Patterson in post game.

  49. If I lived closer to Cincinnati I would be at the ball park tomorrow.

  50. Note from Dusty:

True, but they clogged up the bases until I put Freel out there.

  51. Just catching up on Tivo. I was surprised to see Mercker pitching in the 8th inning of a tie game, but I guess I can’t really complain about him coming in to face Utley and Howard.

I’m not convinced he can get good hitters out on a regular basis, but I haven’t see him throw every day for 6 weeks like Dusty Baker has. Baker obviously believes that Mercker has something left.

  52. Wait: If you want a bunt down, use a guy who knows HOW to bunt….that’s just crazy enough to work….
