During his introductory press conference, our new manager Dusty Baker claimed that he can get players to come to Cincinnati (wonderful, if it’s true), and that some players have already contacted him. We’ve all wondered exactly who he’s talking about, other than Neifi Perez and Augie Ojeda.
Home Run Derby suggests that it might be Barry Bonds.
Of course, we all know that isn’t going to happen. I would have loved to have Bonds on the Reds for the last fifteen years, but unless the National League adopts the Designated Hitter rule, it ain’t happenin’. Besides, if they moved Adam Dunn to first (or didn’t pick up the contract option, after all) and delayed Jay Bruce’s major league debut to sign Barry Bonds, there would likely be riots in the streets.
Yeah, Dusty Baker has a thing for veteran players, but that’s a bit of a stretch. Interesting for conversation, though….
