  1. Yay, I’m glad the game is on WGN. I love afternoon baseball. Here’s the Reds lineup:

    Hamilton cf
    Keppinger ss
    Griffey rf
    Phillips 2b
    Dunn lf
    Hatteberg 1b
    Valentin c
    Encarnacion 3b
    Livingston p

  2. EdE and LLM shoulda swapped spots in the order to break up the lefties a bit. I’d love nothing more than to sweep these guys. Living in the Chicago area, I know how much panic this would cause in Cub nation.

  3. That’s what you get, Phillips, for yet another weak swing on the first pitch.

  4. Every Cubs hit has been hit well. Livingston is going to have to turn it around immediately.

  5. No Marty; what’s tired is your sorry ass grump and trivia act — just 3 more years!

  6. Griffey’s base running stinks right now. But with a rip like that, I’ll forgive him.

Another game where they might need 18+!

  7. I’ve never seen a divot that big on a baseball field. Did Griffey’s ass do that? 😀

  8. That was really, really, really stupid. Mackanin lets Stanton stay in the game after he got hit with a linedrive (and Brantley said ‘there’s no way he can stay in this game!’), and Stanton promptly gives up a single and then a 4-pitch bases-loaded walk. And still that’s not enough, and he’s remaining in the game! What brand of idiocy is this?

A double, and it’s 9-4. This is just so, so dumb I’m in shock.

  9. I was perversely hoping that those two runners would score and get charged to Stanton, and I got my wish. Just awful.

11-4. And this inning started with the Reds still down only a run.

  10. this season is pathetic.
was anyone actually surprised we lost?

so who do we play opening day next year? 😕

  11. [raises hand] Yes, I was surprised that the Reds lost today. Livingston vs. Marquis, I figured, was a good-size advantage. It just came down to poor bullpen deployment and a ton of hard-hit liners right at Cubs fielders.

  12. Krivsky’s goal was accomplished – the Reds definitely learned how to lose today…

  13. Well this was my first time at Wrigley today, and it was fun until the 7th inning

  14. Reds are 21-17 since Mackanin took over, which is likely the best in the division over that time.
