I was saddened at the news that Wake Forest basketball coach Skip Prosser passed away suddenly on Thursday at age 56. I had the opportunity to meet Coach Prosser last October, and he was simply delightful.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Prosser family, and to Wake Forest University, as well.

I’m an ex-Xavier season ticket holder and met Coach Prosser a couple of times. He was always friendly to the nth degree. The first time, I met him in a bar and we talked about Xavier basketball and I mentioned that I was helping teach a scuba class at Xavier, he said, “Next time you’re there…stop by the basketball office and say hello”. I never did, but had no doubt I would have been welcome.

A good coach, but even more, from all accounts, a good man.

    Thoughts and prayers..

I had the privilege of watching a Wake Forrest practice about 5-6 years ago and really enjoyed it. I was on my way to the Coach K coaching clinic and stopped on the way to watch WF practice. I preferred the style of practice ran by Prosser that day over the way Duke ran practice. Of course I’m a Duke fan.
