Bronson Arroyo is back on the mound for tonight’s game against Hot-lanta.

NEWS ALERT!!! NO LOPEZ AT SS TONIGHT!!!

Keppinger is getting the start at SS.

  2. Y-City Jim

    Bonds sitting again tonight.

Why do the Cubs want Jason Kendall?

  3. Y-City Jim

Maybe we missed our chance to deal Chad Moeller!

  4. Y-City Jim

Our leadoff man’s last BB was on May 19th.

  5. Y-City Jim

I would love to see Arroyo break the 7 inning threshold tonight. Nine innings of shutout baseball should do it.

  6. Y-City Jim

The walkless streak continues for Freel. 80+ at bats now.

  7. Y-City Jim

I knew when Eddie double pumped it was going to be wild. What a play by Conine on the other end!

  8. Justin

Phillips is 2 for 2 tonite. he is killing the ball. That is only good news for us.

  9. Justin

The undying Jeff Conine or 10 or 11 is up. And he is able to Fly out to left and watch Phillips get chopped down at 3rd. Excellent.

  10. Chris

“Grande’s” myspace page links to “Marty’s.”

    My favorite item from Marty’s:

    Children: I don’t want kids

  11. Y-City Jim

Paris is in the studio recording her 2nd album. I’ll be sure to snatch that up as fast as I snatched up the 1st one.

I also heard she was giving Posh Beckman some flack but that might be old news.

  12. Bill

Phillips is hitting, but he’s another dumb player..in the Ryan Freel mold.

And they’re saying what a good player Conine just made..but if he’d made a good play, he’d have got a DP by going to second.

  13. Y-City Jim

George’s MySpace is a web designer’s nightmare and it contains some pretty weird stuff on George.

  14. Justin

Ayrro is good through 4. Shockingly enough.

  15. Y-City Jim

Another case tonight of the Reds making a mediocre pitcher look like Greg Maddux.

  16. Y-City Jim

Has Arroyo thrown even 40 pitches?

  17. Y-City Jim

This might be the Reds best chance since a pitcher is coming to the plate.

  18. Y-City Jim

Reds pitchers are 5 for 5 over the past two nights and we have Arroyo showing bunt?

  19. Y-City Jim

Well, we know Freel won’t walk!

  20. Justin

Arroyo at 54 pitches it doesnt seem like it though. grounds out to move Ross to 3rd though.

  21. Justin

Reyes cant find the zone at all and when he does it is a DOUBLE by Keppinger to score both Ross and Freel.

  22. Y-City Jim

We have to move Phillips to SS next year and play Keppinger at 2B. Move Gonzo in the off season.

  23. Y-City Jim

He may be the Reds’ leadoff hitter of the future.

  24. Justin

wow. Reds can take a series from Atlanta with a win.

  25. Chris

    Let’s not get too excited.

Kepp’s a nice bench guy, but I think you’ll sacrifice some defense, and while his OBP will be 50 points higher than Gonzalez’, he’ll give back 60-70 in SLG.

  26. Justin

I have always like Keppinger. He was given a raw deal in New York and the Royals never gave him a chance for some unknown reason. He killed the ball at Louisville

  27. Y-City Jim

This upcoming series with Florida could be a key to regaining some respectability this season.

  28. Justin

Harris out on strikes. 1 more Bronson!!

  29. Y-City Jim

Keppinger did well when batting leadoff at Louisville. His SLG may improve with the GABP factor. He is weaker defensively but sometimes you have to make that sacrifice. Time will tell. He’ll never make it under the Krivsky scope but that may be a moot point come October.

  30. Justin

Not deep enough Renteria. Inning over!!

  31. Y-City Jim

Nice resiliency by Arroyo especially after the Three Stooges act by “Larry” Dunn, “Curly” Freel, and “Mo” Phillips.

  32. Justin

he has improved his defense over the years. he is a good player to have on the squad I think. Phillips so close.

  33. Y-City Jim

Who were the 12 LHers the rest beat this year? They must have been horrid or else the Reds got great pitching for those games.

  34. Y-City Jim

Phillips is an athlete for sure.

  35. Justin

More issues of Andy Jones destroying his open market value.

  36. Y-City Jim

    Frank Robinson bobblehead! That’s cool!

When will there be a Big Klu bobblehead?

  37. Y-City Jim

Back on the topic of George Grande, I can’t believe the guy was a ballplayer at USC!

  38. Y-City Jim

Ross flirting with the Mendoza line again.

Arroyo flirting with the Pedro Lopez line.

  39. Y-City Jim

I’ll give Reyes credit for a good performance though I think the Reds hitters helped. Backhanded compliment, I guess.

  40. Y-City Jim

Give the Atlanta fans a treat, Griffey!!!

  41. Y-City Jim

    THATS WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT!!!

  42. DevilsAdvocate

Griffey now has 5 stolen bases. What a year.

  43. DevilsAdvocate

SB pays off, 2 more runs. 6-0, I’m loving this.

  44. Y-City Jim

Some good clutch hitting that inning!

  45. Y-City Jim

It is so nice when the Reds play well and oh so bad when they play like crap.

  46. Y-City Jim

3 hits, 9 K and 2 BB through 7 innings. This is the Arroyo we love!

  47. DevilsAdvocate

Season-high 9 K’s for Arroyo in 7 innings. He’s also thrown exactly 100 pitches. Time to take him out – pushing Arroyo beyond his limits is what got his bad streak started, and he’s finally recovered now. Don’t fear the bullpen with a 6-0 lead.

  48. Y-City Jim

I think they said Stanton is coming in to set it up for Weathers.

  49. Y-City Jim

Arroyo’s ERA dropped 0.27 points tonight. Let’s preserve the shutout and, more importantly, the victory.

  50. DevilsAdvocate

Mackanin wouldn’t use Weathers again, would he? Can’t he save their only semi-reliable relief pitcher for more critical situations? Unless, of course, Stanton & co. give up 5 runs here. I wouldn’t put it past ’em.

  51. Y-City Jim

How many chances has Keppinger had tonight? Edwin has been pretty aggressive over there at 3B.

  52. Y-City Jim

Who gets the nod for the close if not Weathers? Coffey, since he pitched just 1/3 of an inning last night?

  53. Y-City Jim

Griffey’s lost ball in the lights cost the Reds the shutout. Slam the door, Stanton!

  54. Y-City Jim

Stanton needs to hang the spikes up for the last time this October.

  55. DevilsAdvocate

You walk Jeff Francoeur on four pitches, and you’re fired. That’s just awful.

  56. Y-City Jim

Stanton is going to force Mackanin to yank him before the inning ends.

  57. Y-City Jim

Valiant effort by Freel. That would have been a heck of a catch!

  58. Y-City Jim

I wish the guy could go out on top but Stanton really needs to consider hanging it up NOW.

  59. Y-City Jim

Does anyone in this Atlanta lineup not complain about strikes?

  60. DevilsAdvocate

RE: #65, I was totally wrong! Stanton & co. only gave up four runs, not five!

  61. Y-City Jim

Can we get this done before “The Bronx is Burning” comes on? I forgot to watch it last night.

  62. Y-City Jim

DA, I’m glad you overestimated rather than underestimated!

  63. Y-City Jim

Talking Stanton trade. It would take some additional cash and the receiving team might send the Reds a bobblehead in exchange.

  64. Justin

I would give Stanton away for a bobble head and a bag of balls.

  65. Y-City Jim

A two SB night for Griffey! When’s the last time that happened?

  66. Y-City Jim

Justin, are you set on getting the bag of balls?

    😀

  67. Y-City Jim

Whatever happened to the imminent downpour of rain in Atlanta?

  68. Justin

Pinch Hitter, Harris and Renteria due up for Braves.

  69. Y-City Jim

The Braves fans with the annoying Florids State chant ripoff!

  70. DevilsAdvocate

July 18, 1999 was the last time Griffey stole 2 bases in a game. 8 years almost to the day.

  71. Justin

I would perfer the bag of balls to the bobble head. Balls are more expensive.

  72. Justin

    Lets go Weathers…downpour and doubleplay.

  73. Chris

They aren’t kidding around here. The Braves have ripped just about everything.

  74. DevilsAdvocate

I hate Chipper Jones more than any other Brave. Blerg.

  75. Justin

Freel under it in center and This one belongs to the Reds!!

  76. DevilsAdvocate

It’s a win. I’m going to go have a heart attack.

  77. Chad

I can’t stand Mike Stanton or David Weathers. They just exhaust me.

  78. Y-City Jim

Another series win. You’re welcome, Mets!

  79. Chad

I’ll take the win, but after a 6-0 lead and an outstanding performance by Bronson, it shouldn’t be so nerve-wracking!

  80. Y-City Jim

Weathers and Stanton likely won’t be here next year to stand.

I’ll be at Jacobs Field tomorrow afternoon watching the scoreboard to look for a Reds sweep.

  81. Justin

Reds look to Sweep the Braves. wow. I cant believe I am saying that. 2nd sweep in 3 series.

  82. Y-City Jim

Especially with two regulars out of the lineup.

  83. Justin

It will be interesting to see if Weathers will be back. I am not convinced he will be traded nor will he retire.

  84. Y-City Jim

I don’t think Weathers will retire but I could see him being traded. Some teams will pay a high price for relievers.

    😀

  85. Brian

So Lopez has been starting at short for the last week because Keppinger can’t play the position. If they’re going to play Keppinger there now, why did they wait? Why not have the guy who can, you know, hit, play over the guy who can’t? And if they are so worried about Keppinger not being able to play short, do we really think Brandon would be against playing short for a few days?

  86. Justin

JB would give us back Ryan Wagner. He is currently broken.

  87. Glenn

Mike Stanton is killing me. Slowly, but surely he is affecting my health. Maybe he’ll get packaged up in a trade and I won’t have to suffer like this next year.
