Some photos of my trip (with fellow Redleg Nation editor Bill) to see the Dayton Dragons, Class A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, on July 6. What an outstanding atmosphere for a ballgame. Dayton may be the best run baseball franchise in the country.

  1. My three-year-old cousin is a Dragons maniac. Knows the whole roster, by name and number. Loves Logan Parker.

His favorite Red: Javy Valentin. Favorite golfer: Vijay Singh.

    Who knows.

  2. My three-year old granddaughter is also a huge Dragons fan. She loves, as she calls him, #2 Justin “Dragon” Turner. Of course, he is her cousin!!

  3. Nice!

The stadium was built on my father’s company’s property so we always get the great seats. The stadium is so beautiful, and it really is a great venue.

  4. WOW great photos!

  5. I brought back some Dragons baseball card team sets for my kids — ages 5 and 2. I brought them the team sets with Homer Bailey and Jay Bruce.

They are crazy about them (they’re just getting into baseball cards). The reason they’re so crazy about them? Because there are cards of the two Dragons mascots. They love ’em.

  6. I think Juan Francisco makes it to the Majors before Drew Stubbs. I caught Drews’ last HR.

  7. The Loons team that they were playing that night (Dodgers) has one of Andy Van Slyke’s boys on the roster and also Cameron Mattingly, Don’s son.

  8. A Dragon’s official told me that night that the Loons might be worse than the ’04 Dragons team…and that’s BAD.

  9. The Loons were terrible in the field; the Dragons scored 46 runs in the four game series and they were shut out in the second game (20, 0, 18, and 8)
