Louisville 4 – Toledo 3

24 year old “The Lizard” started for the Bat, throwing 5 1/3 allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, with 5 K’s. DOTF fav, 24 year old Calvin Medlock picked up the win, throwing a scoreless inning and a third, striking out 2, but giving up 3 hits. 27 year old Gary Majewski picked up his second save, throwing a scoreless 9th with a walk and strikeout.

AA

Chattanooga has the day off.

Lakeland 1 – Sarasota 0

23 year old Michael DeJesus had his 36 game on base streak snapped.

20 year old Travis Wood threw 3 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits, striking out 5, RN Spotlight Player Thomas Pauly threw 2 perfect innings as did 25 year old Carlos Borhorquez.

I don’t know why Wood only threw 3 innings.

South Bend 7 – Dayton 5

22 year old Justin Turner (.318/.382/.450) was 4-5 with a double and HR (7th), 22 year old Carson Kainer (.288/.373/.373) was 2-4 with homer (his first at Dayton), 23 year old Jason Louwsma‘s (.251/.310/.377) hot streak continued at 2-4 with a double, and RN’s Spotlight Player, 22 year old Logan Parker (.276/.362/.362) was 2-2 with a double and 2 walks.>

22 year old Lee Tabor threw threw scoreless innings of relief, lowering his ERA to 2.82.

Pioneer League

Helena 13 – Billings 1

Dan Zeffiro threw 3 innings allowing only 1 run on 2 hits with 3 K’s. Rough night for RN Spotlight Player 22 year old Matt Klinker as he gave up 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits and 2 walks in 2 2/3 innings.

GCL

GCL Pirates 6 – GCL Reds 2

#1 Draft pick 19 year old C Devin Mesoraco was 2-3 and scored a run. (.333/.412/.367 through 8 games).

The Baby Reds made 6 errors in the game.

I’ve been a Reds fan since the late ’60’s, with my luck of being able to attend plenty of games at Riverfront during the BRM era. I was sitting in the Green Seats in the OF when Pete came home in ’84 and was in the Red seats when Glenn Braggs reached over the fence in ’90 to beat the Pirates. I have had many favorites from Jim Maloney to Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin, Adam Dunn, and Jay Bruce.
