Three wins in a row, with Aaron Harang pitching today. Not a bad scenario.

Harang will be going for his tenth win in today’s afternoon affair at Great American Ballpark, the last game before the All-Star break. It’d be nice to go into the break with a sweep, wouldn’t it?

Discuss it here…and here’s a topic to get it started: two straight series wins, after a June in which the Reds won exactly one series. How did that happen?

  1. Reds are going to win this game. I am feeling it.

  2. Nice job by Harang to get out of a jam that wasn’t completely his own making.

  3. Phillips batting clean-up. Interesting.

  4. HATTIE!!!!!

  5. Curious. Where did Dunn rank in voting among outfielders for the All-Star Game?

  6. I wonder how many GigaWatts of energy were used to put on Live Earth yesterday?

  7. ROSS BLASTS #14!!!

Is it all or nothing with this guy?

  8. Did Ross almost drop that ball?

  9. Gonzo just isn’t a very good hitter.

  10. Re #7 – I was thinking the same thing, Jim. People compare Dunn to Kingman, but Ross is probably a lot closer.

  11. Ross career numbers:
    .223 .298 .452

    Kingman career numbers:
    .236 .302 .478

  12. I was thinking Russell Branyan compared to Ross a lot. Maybe Branyan should be a catcher.

    .230 .328 .480

  13. If Dunn could ever figure out what to do with the low strike that they call on him so much it would be scary.

  14. Hatteberg is on fire.

  15. GM’s should be tripping over themselves trying to get the Reds to deal him to their club.

  16. So ESPN is banned from the All Star Game!

  17. Not a nice deal for ESPN….naughty that they read an AP press release.

  18. is Harang at the end of the line tonite? 113 pitches. the bottom of the line up coming through in the 9th. Let him go for the CG Pete.

  19. Tony Larussa, pick up the phone. Aaron Harang has issued a statement to you.

    Nice day’s work!

  20. When is Dunn ever going to get a shot at HR Derby?

  21. if he makes an all star team

  22. Glad the Reds have the lead because the Arizona bullpen is kickin’ butt.

  23. So once he plays in a major metropolitan area like NY, LA, SF, or Chicago.

  24. Harang is finished, good performance, 8IP 6H 1ER 1 BB and 8K’s. Weathers is in

  25. perhaps but until he reduces his strikeout ratio see Rob Deer.

  26. WOW!!! Fabulous grab by Hopper!!!

  27. 1 down phew.

  28. 2 down!! Broom is set

  29. Good to see the fans getting psyched up at Great American.

  30. Ouch! Nail biter time!

  31. Shut the door, WeatherMan!!!

  32. Crap!!!

  33. There’s the David Weathers we’ve come to Love! thanks Stormy — from Harang!

  34. Damn it not again

  35. Another awesome start “unrewarded.”

  36. One hitter too late.

  37. Pete should have let Harang go for the CG

  38. Maybe Ross will hit a solo shot because we know Gonzo won’t be on base.

  39. HOw long until Mackanin realizes he has to let the starters go the distance and throw 130 pitches if they want to get their win? This bullpen sickens me!

  40. Nah, Justin. He made the right move. Just didn’t work out.

  41. Gonzo lets go Walk off style

  42. I know. But still

  43. Let’s hope Hopper gets a hit because we know Ross can’t!

Hoping for some more of that reverse psychology! 😀

  44. Just Frustrated. lets go Ross

  45. Ross is awful….did we DFA the wrong catcher??

  46. 4 for 4 time SH

  47. Weathers must make up for this bad 9th inning.

  48. Weathers again? Isn’t he a bit fatigued?

  49. Fast work of Odeja

  50. Glad Hopper is playing LF. I think that falls with Dunn.

  51. Man! That has to hurt!

  52. Will be last inning for Weathers

  53. So we go from Bad to Worse.

    Enter Mike Stanton

  54. Now enters the wily veteran Stanton.

    🙄

  55. Stanton in to get out of this jam great….where is Coutlangus

  56. Man!!! Not giving Stanton the outside corner.

  57. No Damage from the inning phew.

  58. Freel, Griffey, Phillips to win it now!!

  59. So close

  60. Bruce and Votto playing in the Futures Game on ESPN2.

  61. Phillips come on!!

  62. Great take out by Griffey!!! Way to nail the SS!!!

  63. 1st and 3rd 1 down…..no double play

  64. End it here, Valentin!!!

  65. As slow as he is Valentin almost beat the throw.

  66. Can we call Elk & Elk to sue the bullpen?

    😀

  67. Figures nothing again. Situational htting on our team is awful

  68. I want so bad to have a four game winning streak. Is that too much to ask?

  69. If I was Ross I would stick that thrown bat up Salazar’s rear.

  70. So by George Grande’s book a hard hit ground ball is a “shot?”

  71. Coutlangus is on…..lets go Reds…..

  72. For that I think Saarloos deserves a win!!!

  73. Hopper up lets get it done!!

  74. Beat that out…..Lets go SH 4 hits today none would be bigger then now.

  75. The “H’s” have it!!! Hopper keeps it alive and Hattie wins it!!!

  76. Hatty does it !

  77. Hattie knocks in the first and last runs of the game!

  78. The longest winning streak of the year!!!!

  79. SH hits it to left!!!!!This one belongsto the Reds!!!! Broom Time

  80. Washington beats Milwaukee again so the Reds are only 13 back!!!

    😀

  81. By my reckoning … Hatteberg last 9 games

    16 for 29, 6 walks, 5 runs, 5 rbis, .552 batting avg, .629 on base pct

People like to bat first to get more plate appearances, good plan.

  82. It works for me.

  83. Enjoy three days off, Reds!

    Let’s come back recharged!

  84. Votto just hit a pop fly over the LF wall. It looked like a pop up and went out!

  85. So they play the Futures game and the MiLB schedule continues as usual? Seems a bit odd.

  86. So what are thoughts on “The Bronx is Burning” mini-series?
