29 year old Tom Shearn threw 7 scoreless innings on 5 hits. 24 year old Bill Bray and 28 year old Kirk Saarloos each threw a scoreless inning. 23 year old Joey Votto was 1-3 with an RBI, R, and a walk. He’s hitting .314/.416/.477 on the season. 27 year old Jeff Bannon was 2-4 with a 3 run homer for the Bats.

AA

Carolina and Chattanooga were suspended in the 9th inning with Carolina leading 1-0.

High A

Dunedin 4 – Sarasota 1

New Redleg Nation “Spotlight Player” Thomas Pauly threw a scoreless inning in his return from the DL, striking out 2.

Low A

Dayton 6 – Ft. Wayne 0

21 year old Jordan Smith threw 7 shutout innings of 2 hit baseball, striking out 4. He lowered his ERA to 3.49. 22 year old Miseal DeJesus and 23 year old Ramon Geronimo threw two hitless innings of relief.

22 year old Carson Kainer was 2-3 with a walk, scored two runs and knocked one in. He’s hitting .265/.342/.324 since being sent back from Sarasota.

Rookie Ball

Billings 11- Missoula 6

21 year old Keltavious Jones was 4-5 scoring 3 times and knocking in 3 runs and had a stolen base. (.295/.348/.425) 22 year old Menchaca Brandon was 2-5, scored 4 times and stole 2 bases. (.283/.327/.391) 21 year old Brandon Waring was 2-4 with a double and 3 RBIs (.333/.424/.569).

22 year old Luis Montano threw 6 1/3 innigs of 2 run relief (both on solo homers), allowing 6 hits and striking out 8.

No GCL ball on Sundays

I’ve been a Reds fan since the late ’60’s, with my luck of being able to attend plenty of games at Riverfront during the BRM era. I was sitting in the Green Seats in the OF when Pete came home in ’84 and was in the Red seats when Glenn Braggs reached over the fence in ’90 to beat the Pirates. I have had many favorites from Jim Maloney to Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin, Adam Dunn, and Jay Bruce.
