23 year-old, first baseman, Joey Votto went 2 for 5 with a R and a SB.  He is hitting .314/.425/.482.   vsL he is hitting .245/.409/.327 and vsR he is hitting .333/.431/.526

In his first rehab appearance in Louisville 37 year old “Everyday” Eddie Guardado pitched an inning and recorded a BB and a K.   He pitched 2 innings in Dayton giving up a H with 2 Ks.

Jacksonville 7, Chattanooga 4

WOW.  I hope that mass promotion happens soon.  This team has almost NO prospects right now.

Sarasota 12, Lakeland 2

I think these kids heard about the promotion coming.

23 year old Michael Griffin went 2 for 4 with a 3B and 3 RBI.  The third baseman is hitting .304/.338/.430

20 year-old, center fielder Jay Bruce went 3 for 4 with a BB, 2 2b, and an RBI.  He is hitting .318/.371/.576

24 year-old, first baseman, Adam Rosales went 3 for 5 with a 2B, R, and 2 RBI.  He is hitting .296/.397/.509.

22 year-old, right fielder, Danny “You can skip a level and succeed” Dorn went 3 for 4 with a HR and 3 RBI.  He is hitting .262/.343/.439.

Dorn would be the only one from the Sarasota DOTF that I would keep in Florida.  Rosales, Bruce, and Griffin pack your bags, you are going to Chattanooga.

Dayton 3, Lansing 0

21 year-old, shortstop, Chris Valaika went 2 for 4.  He is hitting .324/.362/.514.

22 year-old Travis Webb pitched 5 innings giving up 5H, 0 ER, and 3 BB while recording 5 Ks.   He has a 3.26 ERA with 61 Ks, 21 BB, and 53 H in 58 IP.

  1. Matt, you think Griffin should go up? I watched him all last year, he’s a utility guy (can play IF and OF) but to walk him you almost have to throw the ball in the stands.(.304/.338/.430 this year.)

Dorn has really rebounded from a bad April…910 OPS in May, .950 thus far in June.

I hope the promotions don’t happen until after the 23rd…

  2. I wouldn’t promote strictly on stats. I would promote based on their AGE. We need to find out what we have. Yes I would promote Griffin. He is not my type of hitter, but letting a 23 year hit at Sarasota is a waste…unless they know he is never going to be a prospect.

  3. Dragons magic number is three with six games left 😉
