We’ve spent some time tracking the draft picks from the last three drafts and tried to determine where these players are now in the Reds system, we call it “Draft Tracker”.

This involved lots of research, some detective work, and even a little guesswork.

Check it out. If you find errors or have a source for a transaction we missed, please let us know. We’re also looking for a solid source for minor league transactions, if you know of one, please let us know.

Sorry to ask a dumb question, but where is the link to your Draft Tracker?

Not a dumb question. It’s on the left, under the “Redleg Nation Exclusives!” heading.

Great job putting this together, Bill. If there is any other information about these drafts that anyone would like to see included, let us know. We aim to please.

It might be useful to have the draft tracker indicate age somehow. That way we can get an idea of their prospect status – for example, “24-years-old” plus “Billings” equals “Non-prospect.” I wouldn’t want to have to update the tracker every day someone has a birthday, though. Maybe indicate how old they were at the time they were drafted? Also, perhaps indicate their college name or high school/town that they came out of? Players out of northern climes could be forgiven for a slightly longer development time.

To repeat the sentiment, it’s a great feature idea, which I’ve not seen anywhere else. I never realized how many of the lower-round picks decide not to sign. Are they all high-schoolers who are going to college? No wonder the draft was finally limited to a defined number of rounds. On the other hand, no more 62nd-round picks who go on to be Hall-of-Famers.

DA: All the picks are linked to their pages at “The Cube” which has all the info you’re looking for.
