Apologies for my hiatus. Here are the reports for yesterdays games, August 17.

AAA

Scranton/W-B 7, Louisville 3

Former 27th overall pick in the ’96 draft, A.J. Zapp went 3-3 with a solo homerun for the Bats in their 4-run loss.

Jim Serrano got the start for the Bats, going 5 innings, allowing 6 runs on 10 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 5. Despite the rough outting, the 29 year old pitcher still has a 3.81 era in 9 starts this season.

AA

Huntsville 1, Chattanooga 0 (suspended by rain

No boxes available due to the PPD

A

Sarasota 0, Tampa 0 (PPD due to rain)

Low A

Dayton 9, Lansing 6

LF Jeremiah Piepkorn went 2-5 with a homerun, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in. I have conflicting stats on Piepkorn. It appears that he has 22 homeruns and 82 runs batted in this season. (Another site has him at 19 and 69)

C John Purdom went 2-5 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and 3 runs batted in.

Finally, DH Trevor Lawhorn went 2-5 with a triple, homerun, 2 runs scored and 2 rbis.

Gulf Coast League

GCL Reds 5, GCL Red Sox 3

36th round draft pick by the Reds last season, T.J. Johnson, pitched an inning of scoreless relief last night. On the season, Johnson is yet to allow a run in 7 appearances thus far.

  1. I thought Serrano was exercising his option to go to another club.

  2. The reason you probably have conflicting stats for Jeremiah Piepkorn is because he played the first month or so of the season in Sarasota. The number that you have for the 22HR’s includes the 3 HR’s that he had with the Sarasota Reds. He has 18 HR’s so far in his season with Dayton. If he makes it to 28 this season, he will tie the existing HR record for the Dragons which I believe is held by Samone Peters.

  3. Probably couldn’t find one. If he can’t crack the Reds’ staff, where can he go?
