Narron’s latest comments in today’s Enquirer:

Narron said he anticipates that Freel will be busy in Chattanooga and when he returns to the Reds.

“I can’t imagine a guy sitting for three weeks and not wanting four of five days to play,” Narron said. “When he comes back, he’ll play second, third and all of the outfield spots at times.

“He does a really good job with it. I don’t think people realize how difficult it is to jump from position to position.”

So, Aurilia is going to continue to play. I’m not saying that Freel shouldn’t be used, at times, to rest the OF or Randa, but he should be the regular 2B. To play Aurilla at the expense of Dunn, Randa, Pena, or Griffey is just stupid.

Has he done anything to impress anyone up to this point?

About The Author

I've been a Reds fan since the late '60's, with my luck of being able to attend plenty of games at Riverfront during the BRM era. I was sitting in the Green Seats in the OF when Pete came home in '84 and was in the Red seats when Glenn Braggs reached over the fence in '90 to beat the Pirates. I have had many favorites from Jim Maloney to Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin, Adam Dunn, and Jay Bruce.

I have never seen a team “rest” players as much as the Reds. You would think they were 100 years-old.

Well, I think they’re looking to a minimal firesale, where they can shed the lessers of their non-evils. If Aurilia can post some more good numbers, maybe others will be attracted.
