Brewers at Reds (July 6, 2014)

The Reds and Brewers wrap up their 3-game set in Cincinnati this afternoon. The winner of this rubber match takes the series. The Reds could use the win in order to regain the game in the standings that they lost yesterday in that tough 1-0 defeat.

Mat Latos faces the Brewers for the 2nd time since his return from the DL. In his first trip to the mound against Milwaukee, Latos pitched 6 shutout innings. The Reds may need a similar effort (or better) in order to capture this series deciding game.

Discuss the game here, Reds fans!

Lineup:
1. Hamilton CF
2. Frazier 1B
3. Phillips 2B
4. Bruce RF
5. Ludwick LF
6. Mesoraco C
7. Cozart SS
8. Santiago 3B
9. Latos P

  1. I believe if we will all use George Grande’s adages, we will be better fans then the Cards, Buccos, Bew Crew, and the Cubbies have. Who is with me?

    • Someone insinuated, Reds fans may not be exactly the “best”. Who is a bigger better fan then GG?

      • I meant Brox pitching the 9th in a save situation was odd. Grandisms are a bit much for me but I like his attitude in the booth. Seems like the kind of guy you’d love to have as a tour guide.

        • Sweet. Actually it seems that George has been a bit of a good luck charm. 4 of 4 in SF and 2 of 3 against “the Crew”. Reds can be down by 10 runs and Grande will act as if he just popped out of a birthday cake.

        • George Gande’s homerism is fine with me – the dude can definitely get excited. Now Marty, he is another story as he is going to be one cranky old man if and when he finally gets there. Now Joe Nuxhall, on the other hand, was cool beyond belief – and I for one still sorely miss him.

    • They were without Braun – Reds without Votto. Even considering that, the Reds are the better team. But man, they need some -O- big time. Would have no problem with this at all if this HR by Bruce actually got him going.

  2. Fun win. No news on Chapman? Weird day for Reds regarding players and their availability to play (see Votto thread). I’m gonna bet on “back tightness” for Aroldis. Man it’s fun beating the Brewers.

  3. Sounds like Old Smitty fell asleep again when Ludwick was thrown out at third. Gave no sign whatsoever. That Smitty, he’s a keeper.
