Reds at Pirates (June 18, 2014)

The Reds can climb back to the .500 mark with a win tonight against the Pirates. At this point in the season, it would be a nice baby step start to getting back into the division hunt.

Alfredo Simon will look to win his 10th game of the season with a victory tonight. Simon has been way better than anyone expected him to be to this point and I’m willing to bet the ranch no one had him projected to win 10 games this season, let alone by mid-June.

Discuss the game here Reds fans!!

1. Hamilton CF
2. Frazier 3B
3. Votto 1B
4. Phillips 2B
5. Bruce RF
6. Mesoraco C
7. Schumaker LF

9. Simon P

  1. Maybe he figured there would be a rain delay and didn’t want a new pitcher to start an inning and then have to stop for a delay.

  2. Thank God for mother nature. Watching Simon try to push 120 pitches in a blowout was making me wonder how Price was going to be fired the next day when Simon heard something pop.

    Whew, whew, whew.

  3. The baseball gods are taking a hand for the Reds. Price will need to bring in a relief pitcher when they resume. Then I will be really nervous. Radar looks like a lot of water headed to the ball park

  4. I didn’t catch everything Marty said, but I got the impression that he was saying that the rain shouldn’t last long and expects the game will resume shortly.

  5. Time to start the Redleg Nation “Banana Thread” : Has anyone been following the World Cup Soccer tournament. Its the biggest sporting event on the planet, yet has little impact on America’s sports scene. I haven’t watched a single game yet, but I probably will start watching if the American team advances past the opening round.

    • World cuppers are almost outscoring the college world series teams. The 1st home run of the tourney was just hit tonight

  6. I’m not keeping up with this game very well, but if/when this resumes who pitches the Reds out of this little jam?

    • Its amazing how the Brewers didn’t miss a beat in terms of scoring runs after losing Prince Fielder. (I kept wanting to type Cecil Fielder, I think that’s called old guy syndrome)

  7. Pirates right fielder that was pitching for the Pirates will be able to tell his children and Grandchildren that he struck out Joey Votto. Pretty good story to tell.

  8. I have to say something. I just checked Stubbs numbers. The dude is has a 300+ BA and is on pace to K only about 100 times. Unbelievable. Either the Rockies hitting coach knows something, or Stubbs worked out with someone else over the winter, or he finally had his “Ah-ha” moment over the off-season and finally decided to change his batting style.
