2013 Reds / Game Thread

Game Thread: Reds at Cardinals (2013.08.27) – 1

At this point, I just hope the Reds: 1. Know how many outs there are; 2. Don’t give up any grand slams; and 3. Don’t get hammered by the Cardinals!  It would be nice to at least take 1 game before this series is over so that the club doesn’t lose too much ground.  Mat Latos, you’re our only hope!

OK, that’s about as negative and pessimistic as I can be. I don’t really feel that way.  Even though last night’s loss was a bummer, I know the Reds can just as easily take the next two games in the series and suddenly everything is fine and dandy again.  Just trying to appeal to as many Reds “fans” as I can with this game thread!  Discuss the game here and GO REDS!

  1. Someone has to be fired over the insane amount of base running errors, right? They are professionals right?

Who is held accountable. My guess is no one, which as it turns out, is the problem.

  2. This just keeps getting better. I’m through complaining. This team is beating itself. Cards trying to lose and the Reds don’t have the baseball IQ or coaching take advantage. That was a microcosm of things

STUPID. Can’t say it load enough.

Something drastic needs to be done to get their attention.

You Votto apologists can spin it anyway you want but Latos has 2 hits off this guy. Nuff said.

  3. that has to be Berry’s fault. Bruce has to try to score on that. Ya Cozart should have been looking. But I don’t blame him for assuming bruce was going to try to score. Of course Tom B isn’t going to say It’s a coach’s fault.

  4. Why didn’t Dusty grab Cozart by the collar and look him in the eye and yell, “What the hell are you doing out there! You are embarrassing your teammates and yourself. Go take a seat for the rest of the game!”

No, Dusty just sits there and chews his cud.

  5. Latos has settled into dealing mode since the 1st. Will the Reds manage to look like a real professional baseball team and give Mat some run support?

  6. A late stop sign by Berry started that whole train wreck. People forgot how bad of a 3rd base coach Berry was when his replacement was so God-awful that he made even Berry look good. The runner was 3 quarters of the way home when Berry put up the stop sign.

  7. That inning captured this season. Great opportunity to score. Terrible ABs from Ludwick and Mesoraco. Latos comes thru with a line drive, 3rd base coach not sure what to do, confused base runners give away an out.

  8. Here’s the point in a nutshell. In his career there have been 100 singles hit to Jay with a runner on 2nd, 89% of the time the runner has been sent and only twice out of 89 times has Jay thrown someone out at home!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. This game should be tied now!!!!
